In response to the Mama Cass line:
Wikipedia wrote: An urban legend holds that Elliot died choking on a ham sandwich. This is incorrect. Speaking to the press shortly after her body was discovered, the police noted that a partly eaten sandwich had been found in her room and speculated that she may have choked while eating it, or that she may have died in her sleep of some other cause. When the coroner's autopsy was performed the following week, no food was found in her trachea and the cause of death was determined to have been heart failure. She had indeed died in her sleep. But by then, the Fatal Ham Sandwich story was already making the rounds and the real cause of death was ignored by press and public for quite some time. The story even makes an appearance in the 1996 film Beautiful Thing, which features a number of Cass Elliot's songs - notably, "You've Got to Make Your Own Kind of Music." And, of course, this is the urban legend behind the joke that, "If Mama Cass had given the ham sandwich to Karen Carpenter, they'd both be alive today" -- which, while amusing in its way, also speaks to the not-so-subtle contempt Americans still hold toward eating disorders.

I'm on the fence, with both exaggerated jiggling butt-cheeks quivering over the "not fond of" side of the fence.cody @ Oct 1 2006, 03:28 PM wrote: drawn like what, a cartoon?
I don't see how people could find it offensive.
I'm rather conservative and have a special situation:
See, I ordered a copy to be sent to my nephew direct from the warehouse, as I always do. I'm not a hooligan, and this solves a problem for me. He's 24 with special needs and lives far away, and there isn't much else he enjoys in life - videos, music, movies. Al was always a pretty safe bet for gift-giving. However, had I known there was a suggestively drawn cartoon on the DVD side, I would have rather copied only the music and been selective on the videos. As soon as I got my copy home on release day, I was shocked and called my sister to warn her, and apologize. You see, he had a hard time simply coping with the lyrics, "stripper with the implants". He can't handle the sexual references...it's part of his mental condition.
Oh well. I thought since Al has a daughter, he might not want woman to be objectified like that. Seems to me it didn't need to be so outrageous to be funny. I would have rather seen live action, real women. I didn't mine the AATP women!
Whatever - I just wish I had previewed it. I've spoken my mind and I feel better. Still love Al, but was disgusted and embarassed. I had actually not wanted to support the concert tour, but I'm getting over it.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Maybe I wouldn't have been so shocked if I hadn't turned it loose and was waiting for the other shoe to drop. ???
Here comes the FUN, do-do-do-do!

Well, you do have to keep in mind that Al basically let the animators have most of the creative control. He had some input, but he really let them do their own thing. It's not all that bad really. It's slightly suggestive, but the stuff you see on your average primetime TV program is far worse.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

That's probably one of the reasons I don't really like the animated videos. "WSD" is pretty good, mainly for its brutal hilariousness, but none of the animated videos really feel like Al.Kevbo1987 @ Feb 5 2007, 07:50 PM wrote: Well, you do have to keep in mind that Al basically let the animators have most of the creative control. Last night I was watching the previous Inside the Actors Studio and Julia Louis-Dreyfus was the guest. At the end of the show, James started asking her a bunch of random questions (this might happen every show, I'm not sure. Other than last night's, I haven't seen it in a while) the first of which was "What is your favorite word?" To which Julia replied, "Infer." Then the next question was "What is your least favorite word?" Julia replied, "Imply." Made me think of CBNC.
And Peggy
