I had a dream last night where I saw this episode. I only remember two parts though. One was Grampa hearing the song for the first time and yelling at Homer saying "You didnt write that song, I sang it to you when you were a baby!" and there being a flashback to Grampa singing the song in a Doo Wop style. The other part was right after they saw Al perform the song Grampa says, "Spike Jones has ruined music." While I feel its a good joke, seeing as how it was my dream and all, if they actually used something like that I know it would go over 95% of the Simpsons fan base's heads. AS for the song itself, I dont remember much, all I remember was thinking Al sounded an awful lot like Ray Stevens because there was a part where he did something like the Jane part from Gitarzan. You know, the high pitched thing. Didnt really fit in a grunge song though.

I'd laugh if any of that happened. Has anyone seen the King of the Hill episode where they mention Al, and later in the episode, Peggy is listening to (I assume) Dr. Demento, as they are playing Spike Jones? I was laughing hysterically when I heard "Cocktails for Two."
Don't know how that went over with 'mainstream' people or not.

Ya, I remember that King of the Hill episode...
Back before I was an Al fan (dark times indeed) that qoute had actually convinced me that Al was dead...
Also, as I recall, in the episode "Texas City Twister", Peggy mentions how they had "better get going, before that dang Dr. Demento starts stinkin' up the airwaves", or something close to that...
Anyway, back on topic, do you guys think that Al actually wrote the parody in the show or that it was just the writers?

They did. My guess is that they wrote this one too.
