Well, maybe a little better than looking at Darryl Hall, but still...just, no.

Patti, I don't mean we expected WYL to be the same song as W&N, I mean chart wise some of us seemed to be basing the success or failure of WYL on expectations from W&N.

Oh. Well, I wasn't comparing it to W&N in that way, either. Maybe others were, and it's a shame it's charted so low to start, but hopefully, things will pick up.

For those of you who need some cheering up, remember that "Canadian Idiot" also initially debuted on the "Bubbling Under" chart...at #17 (or #117 overall). Things could improve now that word is getting around a little more (such as in the online press), and once the iTunes exclusive ends it will be more readily available elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the song will debut on "Billboard's" "Hot Digital Songs" chart this week at a respectable #56.
I doubt we'll see it skyrocket up the charts, but this is hardly the worst possible news, all things considering.
According to the chart forum I lurk around every once in a while, the song sold 20,740 downloads in its first, albeit slightly abbreviated, week.
And if you need some more good news, back in January someone posted some (I believe) Soundscan figures, and BHD has sold more than 1,975,000 copies, while "Poodle Hat" has sold over 418,000 copies, so we should be seeing some new metal-plated records in the very near future.
