I can understand the slight bump in SOL sales the last month or so (Christmas presents

), but I'm surprised to see W&N jump so much! I wonder why?
This couldn't possibly just be from exposure on the "Big in '06" awards, could it? Either that, or it might also be because W&N was on a number of "best of 2006" lists floating around, so maybe that helped pique new interest in the song.

Yeah, for some reason people just keep buying the albums. I think if they've never bought one before they're finally warming up to it as they find out more about Weird Al. Maybe people are buying it with the money they got for Christmas and gift certificates and stuff.

Wow, it is surprising it jumped so high. I wasn't expecting that high of a jump.

This isn't SOL-related, but there's word in a discussion thread over on Wikipedia (which should be taken with the normal amount of grains of salt) that none other than "eBay" has just hit the "Bubbling Under Hot 100" chart.
I haven't been able to find any verification on the position yet (the original message I read said #15, IIRC), but I was able to get it officially confirmed that "eBay"
did in fact hit the "Bubbling Under" chart this week! This marks the first time that any song from "Poodle Hat" has charted.
Also, someone was asking a little while ago about how long Al's releases have stayed on the "Billboard" charts over the years. I was able to find some information on that on the UKMix.org chart forum.
The number after the album or single title indicates the number of weeks the given release lasted on the charts.
Albums on the "Billboard 200":
Bad Hair Day, 56
Running With Scissors, 32
Off The Deep End, 27
Even Worse, 26
Alapalooza, 24
In 3-D, 23
Dare To Be Stupid, 16
Poodle Hat, 15
"Weird Al" Yankovic, 8
Polka Party!, 4
UHF, 4
Greatest Hits Volume II, 1
Singles on the "Hot 100":
Amish Paradise, 16
Eat It, 12
Smells Like Nirvana, 11
Ricky, 8
Like A Surgeon, 8
King Of Suede, 6
I Lost On Jeopardy, 3
Fat, 2

That's sad.

No, it isn't sad. It means that Al's previous under-publicized and undeservedly underperforming release is being pulled up by the success of his current release. That's a good thing. That's why Al's studio albums are all still in print.
