I agree with you, giantlobsterrobot. In fact I think some of his best unreleased songs are those medley snippets from the 80s and 90s.
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.

If you play it backwards, you can hear someone say, "Al is dead."weirdojace wrote:Yeah man, Take the L Out of Liver is deep.

Four of those have already been released on Dr. Demento's Basement Tapes though. Too bad that series seems to have been discontinued. Take Me Down and Nobody Here But Us Frogs are definitely my favorites out of those.TMBJon wrote:I'm hardly saying I don't have a true fondness for each of those songs. But I sympathize with Al when he says he's reluctant to release a lot of that stuff. I don't think he has anything to be bashful about with Belvedere Cruisin', Take Me Down, School Cafeteria, Pac-Man, It's Still Billy Joel To Me, Nobody Here But Us Frogs, American Slob, and a few others.

Baby Likes Burping still makes me laugh xP
Pac-Man is really clever, maybe not hilarious but still very clever.
I love It's Still Billy Joel To Me, and most of the early Food Medley songs are hilarious (Take the L Out of Liver is moving)

Re: Favorite 'early years' songs?
Lyrically, Won't Eat Prunes Again is one of Al's dumbest parodies. But the accordion solo in the middle of that song stands up as one of the best re-creations of a rock song on accordion ever played.
My favorite from that era is probably Nobody Here But Us Frogs.
