It was at the Paramount theater for RWS. And if I remember correctly, the venue was horrible, acoustics sucked, and the boardwalk was a ghost town. Oh yeah, much better than PNC.........(not that I'm going, just bitching about it.)

Asbury has done a lot in the three years since then. I'm sure no matter what it will be an awesome show. (I'm going to the Keswick instead, worked better for me schedule-wise, and about the same distance).

Crap! Now the venue is a bit far because PNC isn't next door but it's closer - and I have to work, so the extra travel time gets me there late and returning home too late. Geez...this has to be another LiveNation screw up. There's going to be a lot of unhappy people showing up at PNC since the show is next week. It's not like they can stick a few signs up saying "show is next door". What are they going to do - put up signs "get back in your car and drive another half hour and good luck finding this place in Asbury Park if you've never been there"? Parking is on the street, which means parking is going to be a headache.

1st of all im new to this board as ive been a weird al fan from the beginning. i just never posted on boards before as normally i just go to the shows sometimes meet the band and then go hoe. i have seen the band countless times usually from the 1st or 2nd row as im very fussy where i sit. im on this board to state im appaulled about them moving the PNC arts center show without as much as a call or email. i have 1st row center for the arts center and since the paramount theatre is smaller i expect live nation or ticketmaster ( oops they are joint now) will try to shaft me as that is a very corrupt organization. i have sent emails to live nation, the paramount and pnc arts center telling them since i paid for 1st row center thats the only place ill sit. i know bermuda pretty well from going to the shows but one thing i never do is ask for tickets. i get them on my own. i have 1st row for westbury as the seat they gave me thru als vip package was only 3rd row. but on livenation / ticketmaster they released 1st row so i took it. i still have 1 3rd row seat to sell at westbury.

among my favorite LIVE weird al shows was the one at xm studio in washington dc as i was 1st row in the studio with about 40 fans that day july 12, 2008 if i recall. it was the same day of the show i went to @ the warner theatre also in dc that night. i went to atlantic city baltimore and then washington in 5 days so i made it a road trip. i got lucky enough to make the artist confidential show as an email came from xm and said its 1st come 1st serve limited to 40 people. i happened to have been at my computer and the exact moment the email came in i replied for just 1 pass since i go to these shows usually alone. none of my friends understand or like weird al. but me being a musician with perfect pitch and drummer as well as piano player growing up i have been into weird al from the days he played on dr. demento.

i just hope the paramount theatre takes care of this ticket mess as there is no way to give exact seat locations and since ive seen springsteen , hall and oates and other shows at the paramount i thought id let you know its an ok place to see a show but parking is a pain at times especially during summer. im very disapointed i couldnt make delaware or the warner this yr due to a foot injury which is heeling as we speak. i am hoping im 100% by next week as i plan on going to westbury on june 24 and the paramount on june 27. i was supposed to go to the hilton a/c tonight on june 19 but the foot injury forced me to come come early from atlantic city. i hope to meet some fellow weird al fans who get it at these shows. email me if u want to talk about your weird al experiences over the years or meet before any show you and i are going to.

regards,

ranger bob

for you fans who say the paramount suck just know ive seen bruce springsteen there many times when he does his special pretour shows before he goes on tour there and next door at the convention hall. pasking does suck ill admit but its not aghost town anymore as they are improving asbury park but it does have a long ways to go. they have lots of restaurents in the area before the show which pnc doesnt have. im only concerned my ticket will be downgraded since i had 1st row center. so far noone from either theatre or live nation has gotten back to me.

Well I'm not surprised that Ticketmaster smurfed up in a big way and decided to do this without letting people know. Let's not blame Al though *not saying anyone has, just don't want people to start to.* If I remember correctly when he played there 10 years ago he took a fall at the end of Eat It.

I KNOW ITS TICKETMASTER AND LIVE NATION WHICH RUNS BOTH VENUES TRUST ME AL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS VENUE CHANGE. FANS SHOULD BOYCOTT LIVENATION ANR TICKETMASTER WHENEVER POSSIBLE AS THEY ARE WHORES WHO SCALP THEIR OWN TICKETS. THEY GOT TO MERGE AND BECOME BIGGER AND MORE CORRUPT. ITS A JOKE.

Whoa! Simmer down there rangerbob. I'm not saying people are blaming Al. Trust me, I know the promoters are behind it. I avoid using outside sources for tickets whenever possible and always try to buy directly from the venue.

I'm glad to know the Paramount is OK as far as venues go. The past several Sunday evening shows at PNC Al has done is, for me, perfect. I work on Sundays in northern NJ, so going home, changing, meeting friends and getting down to PNC by 6:30 or 7 is no problem. They have their own parking lot, so that's never a problem. The shows have always been good - so no complaints there. I've also seen Al at the Count Basie theater in Red Bank (remember the RWS tour with VH-1 taping?!) - and that one was good, too. Heck, even SRO at the Ritz theater in NYC (years ago) was good. I'm almost certain this isn't Al's fault with changing venues. They just go to where the promoters set up the show. I'm guessing since PNC wasn't sold out (the "nosebleed" seats were still for the most part empty according to the LiveNation seating charts), they moved the show to the smaller venue. It's also probable the Paramount was the closest venue that was open. (I didn't check Count Basie or anywhere else for the 27th.) My concerns are several - they moved to a venue that's farther for some/maybe many, parking could be a problem (does anyone know how parking IS in Asbury Pk near the boardwalk on a Sunday night during summer?)- and do you have to pay by the HOUR (I'm reading .50 and 1.00/hr near the boardwalk), and as mentioned, the seating arrangement/rows and #s. I think the biggest concern is no one has gotten any notification and it's the week before the show. If someone (and I'm talking about people who don't know this forum) purchased tickets already - and even through Al's website, have no idea the venue was changed. If I hadn't been casually looking at the PNC seating chart to see how "full" the show was or seeing this forum, I wouldn't have known. Al's website (as of today - 6/19) still reads PNC in Holmdel - but I know who updates it ;) and he's a little busy with the tour!
Also, if tickets are not being mailed (going straight to will call), are there going to be refunds for mailing - since they aren't? If you ask me, it just stinks. I guess if you live near or in Asbury Park, you're probably doing the happy dance because it's closer.
So who else might *not* be able to go or get there in time - or has to change their Sunday plans for the show because of this change?
Personally, I will probably dedicate a few choice songs during my 'net radio show this evening to Ticket Ma$ter and LiveNation. (See the TV & Media section.)

And here's another question for y'all:

I ordered tickets through the fan club presale -- and have not gotten them yet.

So, will I be able to pick up tickets at the "will call" window at the Paramount?

Also, I have not received any emails regarding the change of venue.

BTW, I saw Ray Davies at the Paramount a few years ago and it's a cool place on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
