World of Weird Al Yankovic

Very cool! Count me in, too! I was wondering if I would drive 400+ miles just for the 10 minute "Al's Brain" deal, but now it gives me an extra reason! YAY!

Unfortunately, I'm now unable to access this site (or myspace) from my work computer, so I"m going to be more out of the loop than normal.

Thanks, everybody for your input and for being willing to volunteer. I intend for a video to be available for purchase after the con (again, another way to meet expenses, which will be great), so I would ask that you refrain from offering that kind of thing on your own. Helping out with the one that will be for sale is welcome, though. Also, I intend to have whatever group shots we do be available for purchase after the con for the same reason. Thank you for your support.

The name WAYcon for our event doesn't set right with me for some reason, maybe because I never think of "Weird Al" Yankovic as 'WAY' and also because 'way' is a real word which some people associate with things like 'one way', which are Christian gatherings. But if enough people like that one, I won't take it out of the running

WAYCon is easy to say and sounds nice to some fans, but you got a point, I use "way" a lot in my normal daily conversations, so maybe us creative/awesome people could come up with a really awesome name! (But if we don't, I'm so voting for that one! But AlFest wasn't too bad of a suggestion...)

(Haha, don't know if this is too long, but just thought of this when I woke up this morning "United Spatula Dealers Convention 2009", USDC 09, I know that's a really, really long name and most people wouldn't get it and actually stay away from there because they'd think we're actually there for spatulas and spatulas only...but just thought I'd throw it out! Yeah, go ahead, shoot me for the really lame name idea, but I'll come up with better, and shorter, ones in time)

I can see why WAYCon wouldn't set right, but I wouldn't make the name really long like "OMG-I'm-Going-To-An-Al-Convention-Con."

I'm looking to help Dave represent New Jersey. Looking very likely I'll make it out to CA for this, as long as I get a job within the next few months. We should definetly have a screening of The Compleat Al. I'll volunteer my copy of it on laserdisc, w/ my laserdisc player, since a lot of people never got to see it on anything but VHS.
