Who knew there were so many rock accordionists? But Al must have been a pioneer in the genre...

I found a very interesting site about American Pie which includes a section on our favorite version.

Eddie Vedder plays accordion? Who knew?
I'm glad they mentioned Billy Joel. In fact I've seen him do it live. A song called "Downeaster Alexa". An interesting coincidence -- in January of 1998 I saw Billy play this song, but before hand he played a bit of "Tubthumping" (I get knocked down, but I get up again . . .) on the accordion. I guess great minds think alike.
One person they failed to mention is Danny Federici of the E-Street Band. On Springsteen's Live In NYC CD and DVD Danny plays stunning accordion on Mansion on the Hill, The River and Youngstown. When I saw Bruce a couple weeks ago Danny had a solo on This Hard Land. Great stuff.

WAY trivia... some of the quizzes are tough!

An interview I'm sure most of you have seen before, but one of the questions and answers caught my attention...

QUOTE RE:Albuquerque: I was wondering if you actually wrote the lyrics stream-of-consciousness, or did you take a lot of time coming up with just the right lyrics?
Well, I didn't improvise it in the studio -- I mean, I did write out all the lyrics and rehearse with the band, like a regular song, but when I was writing the song, I tried to... Basically, I wrote down a lot of stream-of-consciousness things -- like with all my songs, I write in a notebook or in a computer file, and keep notes -- and I just let my brain wander for days and just wrote down everything that kind of came into my head. After all that, I kind of figured out how to make it into a song, just to kind of condense it... [laughs] into eleven-and-a-half minutes!
I've said it before, but man, would I love to get my hands on that notebook of his!

I was checking out Bermuda's "painfully comprehensive listing of Al's recorded works" (US only)
http://php.indiana.edu/~jbmorris/FAQ/al.disco
I decided to check out some of the stuff listed in 2002 (trying to glean any info I can about P@TLC... no luck with
that BTW.)
Where's W
AL I didn't recognize everyone pictured, but there are some interesting folks there. Danny Kaye, Larry Storch, Buster Keaton, Alfred E. Neuman, Red Skelton... Some pretty funny people there with our boy!

I just found a forum, similar to this one, for Billy Joel. I found it by looking for WAY info, and It's Still Billy Joel To Me led me there.
The funny thing is, they are going to the Official Webpage, scouring it for new information, trying to divine something from every tiny change in the page. Is he gonna release a new album soon? While I'm young enough to enjoy it???
Perhaps it's just another level of parody from AL?

I found a page that has a few WAV files from Al's Space Ghost episode. And about a
bazillion other sound files from Space Ghost.

So, if you want to find quirky, wacky, goofy Al stuff, where do you look? Why, in an article by a Yale instructor on copyright licensing, of course!
