Ludo had her first cheesesteak last night, and today we had breakfast in a real diner - no scrapple, though. We're going down to South St. shortly and I plan to introduce her to water ice and soft pretzels. She thinks pretzels are nasty, hard, salty things so we need to clear up that misconception pronto. We all know they're soft, doughy (or semi-stale), salty and sold in brown paper bags on street corners...minnick27 @ Jun 8 2008, 03:22 PM wrote: Make sure Nancy takes you to get a cheesesteak and some Scrapple. If you are gonna be in Philly, you gotta eat them. Not in the same meal though.
mmmm water ice .... my husband and I visited Phillie four years ago and had our first water ice. Now, we don't have to go to Phillie for it, there's a Rita's a town away from us, here in NJ.albinodwarf27 @ Jul 18 2008, 12:39 PM wrote: I plan to introduce her to water ice and soft pretzels.
That was probably Downey's. I still haven't eaten there and I live an hour away, isn't that ridiculous? One of these days....flo-cat @ Jul 19 2008, 10:10 AM wrote:
We ate at a restaurant on the corner where south street ends and then continues on as a big concrete walkway boardwalk type thingy, at least that's my fuzzy memory. We got a delicious lobster dinner ... mmm mmmm gooooood!!!!
My memory is very fuzzy. I remember it was a really nice atmosphere, we had a table on the porch, and it was my first time eating whole lobster. I was fine with it until I looked under the shell near the head of the lobster and saw green glop .... eeeeek. I "kept the lid" on the thing and only ate up to that point. I told my husband, but he ripped the "lid" off of his lobster and I had to see that while I finished my meal. He wasn't very impressed by it either ... yuck!!!!! Other than that, it was a great time.albinodwarf27 @ Jul 20 2008, 07:09 AM wrote: That was probably Downey's. I still haven't eaten there and I live an hour away, isn't that ridiculous?
