I have no idea. I would think if you're gonna hitch a ride with a local fan who is going, you should find and contact them, lol. When I flew to florida for the CG show, I stayed at my sister's house and we went together.

As for hitching a ride with another fan... I dunno about that.

I know some WOWAYers know each other well enough or trust each other enough to ride together, but that's probably because they have met over several concerts and have developed a friendship. That being said, I think you might have some difficulty being a relatively new poster. You know? I'm not trying to "dis" you or anything, it's just that the world is in a sad state these days.

Man, when my dad (now 76) wanted to come home from ElCentro, California to Cincinnati, OH, he hitch-hiked...all the way across the country! (In his sailor suit). These days, if I saw someone doing the same thing, I wouldn't believe he's a sailor, and I'd think he wanted to kill or rob me!

Be patient.

I actually live in the Cincinnati area, I was just curious how other WOWAYers did it.

I attended 2 concerts at King's Island and it would appear to be difficult to have a meet and greet by the busses here because they did keep them behind the theater and the staff there is rather anxious to "kick" people out of the park as quickly as possible.

The first time I went, we found where the busses would be exiting the park, and a small number of us waited and then waived as they went by!

The second time was MUCH nicer, but it was pure luck in getting backstage. I met up with many WOWAYers because of the badges I made, including the famous "WHiZZi". I think Nan was the first person I met and shortly after, I was very fortunate to meet Linda (Accordion Mom) who had a most amazing gift for Al. Happily and unexpectedly, I ended up getting a backstage pass that was quite unforseen. So you just never know what will happen!

If I'm not mistaken, Al performed his Poodle Hat show 2 summers in a row at KI and so it's not unusual for him to be around the same area within a short span. To the best of my knowledge, it's always crowded, so why not?

Yes, indeed Susie - it is pure luck! I will again state the importance of a WOWAY member badge....remember how a certain someone, who would have continued on their way, glanced down and saw the WOWAY badges YOU made? Then, how that person lingered for a while?

Always, always, luck....and proper preparation. Sometimes, the two collide! ;)

I've seen Al twice at King's Island. It's a great venue and the park has some fantastic roller coasters. One of the cooler experiences was at the end of The Beast (I think it was Beast and not Son of) waiting for our car to come back into the station. Off in the distance, we could hear Al and the band singing Angry White Boy Polka as part of the sound check. We all sang along.

The times I went it happened to be the Sunday of Gen Con Indy. Since it's a slow day of the con, a few friends and I drove over from Indianapolis. By coincidence, this year he's playing on the Saturday of Gen Con. However, I already have plans to go to Six Flags Great America with Chicago Force on August 18. I hope those who go have a good time!

Ticket prices are cheaper now.

Ticketmaster is allowing an after 5PM ticket for 10 dollars cheaper.
And also a season passholder ticket for mega cheap.

Well I am contacting ticketmaster to see if they will let me get something of a refund on the tickets since I am a passholder. I keep it updated but I only think I have a 27% chance, I don't see ticketmaster as caring about customers since they are the microsoft of the concert ticket business.

Okay Gang....It's a little early for my roll call, but it isn't too early for this:

We need volunteers to collect signatures for the R&RHOF!

The first 3 to sign up with me (For Kings Island) to collect signatures, will receive a spiffy name badge like this:

(that you probably can't see here I have trouble with posting pics.)

Image

Ok for the visually impared:

It will have WOWAY MEMBER at the top, "& Make the Rock Hall Weird Volunteer" in the middle, and your WOWAY ID name followed by (Your Real First Name), if you wish. (If you were at Kettering (& I had yours with me - sorry, weirdalgurl - you know what it looks like.)

It comes in a handy plastic pouch with a string so you can wear it around your neck. The pouch is the PERFECT place to put your ticket stub. All you have to do is flip your badge over and show the concert "cops" your seat info.

It's reusable too! And... it'll be mailed to your home (we'll PM or email) so you're sure to have it before the concert.

But... you have to sign up NOW so we can get production underway! These things don't grow on trees! We have to obtain approval to purchase pouches, lanyards* & cardstock, then recruit, screen and hire the staff to print, cut & stuff, tie the lanyards*, and then turn them over to the mail room to prepare for shipping to your home.

Remember, everybody wants a name badge, but if you sign up now, you will get PRIORITY production and handling!

Don't forget... supplies are limited --I can only guarantee the first 3! (but there may be more).

How's that for a sales pitch!?

Hey, it's easy to do...people were BEGGING to sign - they passed it along the row. You just had to be careful to get the clipboard back! (I can provide. Don't go out and buy.) I'll throw in 5 sheets of blank petition pages too to the first 3. You'll have everything you need....Greg will have to send you the link for the cool volunteer shirt like he gave Al - but yours won't way "AL" it will say VOLUNTEER. It's great to wear all day at Kings Island, should you run into anyone who might produce a signature that you'd like to collect!

I've asked Greg what the atmosphere is like at this venue about collecting signatures. When I went in 2003 & 2004 I never saw the people collecting, but I know they were there, at leat in 04.

Linda
