We had a fun time! :) We arrived in San Diego in time to have lunch and do some window shopping. Weeell, we didn't get any windows, but we did find some other things. We had to drop off the last bag at the car before our dinner reservations. We had moved the car to the parking structure across from the venue an hour or two earlier. When we headed back down the elevator after the drop off, we saw Melissa, said hi and headed to the restaurant.

Dinner was yummy! While in the restaurant, I waved to Vikki (her group came in and sat down nearby). Then we headed to the "dinner reservation" line and were fortunate to be standing next to Gadget Girl and her family. Nice to meet you all :w Hope you heal fast! Lucky for us, Steve came walking by, so we all got to say a quick hello--he's always so nice and we appreciate it! :) (this must have been after he saw Vikki)

When we got inside, we staked out our place in the front near Steve (I was a bit territorial with the space :S -- last time I was at a HOB, I was a few rows back packed in like sardines, bumped and crowded--yikes). This was so much better. Gadget Girl and her people were up at the balcony edge front row--looked like great seats! :) The concert area was kinda slow to fill up, so I was getting a bit worried there wasn't going to be many people.

It was a really fun show! It was kinda warm in the venue; not sure if it was the a/c, the number of people, or the proximity to the stage; probably the latter - hehe Al and everyone seemed full of energy, although I didn't have a view of Jon. Seemed like a pretty full set, minus WBUL of course. Neat to see where the streamers landed. Lots of donuts, including gooseberry. Storm troopers did a great job!

Some favorite things: Al gave my niece some eye action - hehe! And later in the show, he stared at her boyfriend (his first Al concert and we made him stand closest to Al). When Al stared at him, he turned to her and said "I think Al's staring at me" Steve also gave him a stare when he wasn't waving during Amish Paradise--so funny! :) They did score some Yankobucks and a cannon cap. Al also sang to a guy near the middle front during Albuquerque which was fun to see, especially funny when he started the song over and did it again. And someone did a great job singing during Yoda and got thanked by Al...*

After the concert we kind of hung around to people watch. We saw Rubén looking for someone (maybe Melissa? :) ). And we got to see Christina and one of her friends! :w She told us she was the one Al let sing during Yoda  (I couldn't see who it was--*you did a great job, Christina!) She also showed us her cool drum stick from Bermuda (it was all splintered in the middle from being used in the show). Hope you got it/get it autographed. Security eventually politely encouraged us non-pass people to start heading toward the exit (they were really nice about it, though). We'd stop and linger again before being encouraged to move further along. We also saw Jim speaking with the group near the pass holders--one of them must have been you, LN3000 :) . After getting out of the way of people trying to pack up :S chatted a second or two with some other lingering fans, then headed up the stairs and out. We had the drive home ahead of us.

When we arrived at the car in the parking structure, we saw "the car" mentioned here earlier by Gadget Girl. I took some pics of it. It even had Yoda sitting in the front seat

Not sure if this was my last concert or not. If it is the last, it was a nice one to end with :)

I was able to see Bermuda perfectly. He had that same energy. It was all really great.

I saw the lady going around shoo-ing off the non-pass holders, but she never came near me, so I wasn't shoo-ed off. :P

I think my White and Nerdy hoodie was one of the things that helped me get back to meet Al.

that was me! :D

The concert was AMAZING! Definitely one of my favorites of all time.

I booked dinner reservations for me and my best friend - plus 3 people I was just meeting for the first time (I met them playing World of Wacraft!) We joked that seeing Weird Al with people you meet playing online games has to be the pinnacle of nerdiness. They always tease me about how much I go to see Al and I told them, "Well, you should really go - then maybe you'll get it!" So they did! (For the record, they had a BLAST) :D

We had to hurry through dinner to get decent spots in line, and we ended up smashed directly against the stage. Woot! They were great spots - although we had to duck out of the way of the streamer cannons.

I can't even describe how great the show was from that distance. I tried really really hard not to take any pictures and to just enjoy the show since it was my last one of the tour. I broke down and took 5 or 6 with my phone - but mostly I just absorbed the little details all I could. I've never been that close before, not even when I got front row seats at other venues. We were literally a foot away from the stage. You could see the smudges on his Vans and hear the slight clicking his accordion makes when he presses the keys down. I could go on for days about all that stuff. :inlove: It was incredible.

I got a fair bit of attention from Al (and Steve!), I'm happy to say! :P I got a fair few lines directed at me, a lot of eye contact (my new friends shook me excitedly every time this happened ) and also what was mentioned before...about the Yoda line. That was great! Haha! I'm sorry to everyone who was there for having to be submitted to my terrible voice. :F Also when the guys were finally exiting the stage and Al was waving goodbye to everyone, the last thing he did was point at me, wink and wave. I thought that was really special.

I got to see a bunch of you guys there, I'm so glad! Vikki, Lisa, Tonya and Melissa just to name a few! And I had a good chat with Dave's cousin and Obi Shaun. :) (Obi Shaun is the one with the awesome car, by the way!) He was amazed that I recognized him - how could I forget Obi Shaun!? :inlove:

When I saw Al he gave me a great big hug and I thanked him for spotlighting my horrible voice. lol. I'm always such a mess when I speak with him - I could have told him any one of many fun things about that night (about my Warcraft friends maybe?) but nooo...I just...hugged and giggled and took a picture. I'm such a spaz. B)

Anywho - that was my night! Thanks for all the reviews and pictures, guys! :)

OH and the drumstick thing - that's a bit of a confusing story for me. Immediately after the show, one of the crew guys handed me the splintered drumstick and said, "He said to give this to you!" I was quite suprised - but pleased, of course! Then after all that I bumped into Bermuda, who saw the drumstick in my hand and said, "Where'd you get that?" I'm pretty sure the crew guy was just trying to make my day or something. Oh well, it was a nice gesture, whatever actually happened. :P

She asked if we had passes, and of course I answered no, 'cause we didn't. Now if I'd carried an old one, I could have just nodded my head...after all, she didn't ask if it was for that night ;)

He was quite juicy. And he had a boo boo on his knee, but IIRC he had it on Wednesday, too ;)

Oh! And Al leaned close to the people in the middle and let them touch his accordion! (he's done that before, but it's still fun to see).

I got a fair bit of attention from Al (and Steve!), I'm happy to say!

Oh I hope you're going to be at the Greek! I had to skip this show too. I was just feelping physically lousy all day and wasn't able to get a dinner reservation [my fault for waiting too long :( ]. There was no way I would have made it standing in line for ages without my head exploding [and I don't ever want a repeat of that concert in 2000 in Leisenring PA where I had to leave in the middle of the show]. I'm sorry I had to miss it, it sounds like it was terrific.

Cheers, Diva

Thanks for sharing your awesome concert moments!!! It must have been so incredible to be that close to the stage. Drumsticks, singing, getting sung to, meeting Al after, being recognized by Al or the band...someday that will be us!

I loved seeing you guys from *here* at the concert.

Aw, your voice wasn't bad. You did great.
It was nice to be able to talk to you, and even hear the whole "Where'd you get that?" thing in person.

Such an awesome concert.

Please share the pictures you got, if you can! (My picture still hasn't come in, yet.... I hope it doesn't become another 'lost picture' like the one from Del Mar..)

It's kinda painful looking at these knowing that if I had taken them with the GOOD camera I had in my purse, they would have been some of my best concert photos ever.....but like I said, I tried to just enjoy the show. *sigh*
