Not sure how this happened, but I just checked this thread and the first half of what I had posted disappeared. I just tried to replace it and I think I have all of it back. Remind me if I am missing anything (and of course, if you have any new info.....)

For those interested, I found two quotes in alt.music.weird-al archives about They Might Be Giants' opinion of Al in general as well as EYKIW. One of which was actually reposted by Stan. Go figure!

Weren't into it at the time...
I think it's admirable that Al still supports a group who makes it look like they don't want to be associated with him...odd, but admirable. I know he enjoys their music, and I think it's nice he can still be a fan without letting their creative bias bother him.

If you go to the "You're Pitiful Media Mentions" post it says that Blunt found it to be "a huge compliment in itself".

New quote from Green Day...
http://yankovic.org/blog/2006/10/17/green-day-speaks/
They obviously said this before they heard Canadian Idiot (because of the comment "it's probably gonna be about food or something"), but:
"I think it's cool. I think Weird Al is a funny guy and sometimes he does better than the original."
