Only really hardcore Al fans (not counting DVD reviewers, video store workers, etc.) would probably know about the release, and some of them don't even really like the show. I think it was released as a treat for fans, because, unlike UHF, which became more popular on rental and cable after its release, TWAS was never nearly as popular. That's why it wasn't in a lot of stores. Not a best-seller like UHF. Too bad, though, it would have been nice to see it on the charts.![]()
For some reason (I don't know if it was due to copyright issues over show footage or what), Al's Behind the Music special didn't include any clips from this show, though it was mentioned throughout the special that he had his own series (and there wasn't even a big section on The Weird Al Show).

I've wondered about that too. The struggle for creative control and the ultimate disaster that resulted is just the kind of thing BTM loves to play up. It's possible that they had legal issues with getting clips from the show, but it's also possible that Al asked them to steer clear of making him talk about it because he didn't want talk of such a recent failure to taint his new album sales. Remember, the BTM special came out right after RWS. The Weird Al Show had only been off the air for a year.weird user @ May 28 2007, 12:31 PM wrote:
