Jim, I'm so, so glad you and your family are safe and well. This is all so awful--people are just going nuts, understandably, but it's terrible that some of them are taking out their frustrations by shooting at those who are attempting rescues.

Karen called me today at about 4:30 PM her time. Day three and still no one has come. She says she has plenty of food and water, though I don't know exactly how many days worth she is considering plenty. But of course there is no running water and no electricity. Her telephone is working and it helps a little that she is able to talk with people.

She has a flashlight and a battery operated cd player, so she listens to music a little bit to keep her spirits up, though she's trying to conserve her batteries. She of course is listening to Al, and the song she seems to play most these last couple days is "Why Does This Always Happen to Me?" I'm glad she is hanging on to her sense of humor!

She is naturally worried about the future, basically homeless and unemployed, and no clue how long that will go on. If anyone wants information on how to donate directly to LadyKatia, you can PM me for info (not that she is asking--this is embarrassing for her, but I asked her for the info, and will share it in case any forum members want to help).

To give people an idea of what the Hurricane victims are going through.

I dunno, just seemed inappriopriate. I don't think you can compare the two, since what's going on in New Orleans is probably much worse.

Not to make an advertisement here, but MCI says that if you make a donation to the relief fund through them, they will triple it--so if you donate $500, it will end up being $2000--$500 from you, $1500 from MCI. Pretty generous. :Y

BTW, as an aside from all the Katrina talk--I noticed ccs posted earlier.

Why? Because it's happening to us?

But we are getting WAY off topic. So let's reign it in a bit, eh?

I didn't mean it that way. I guess I should have thought before I posted. Sorry.

Anyway, anth, nice to hear ccs posted.

Do you think Sarley will ever get paroled?

I think Sarley is an urban legend. But I can't find him on Snopes at all.
