Well, since we're all reading this and not listening to it, it's not so much following the heard as it is following the seen.

Greetings,
May I have your attention please......
Thank you.
The Lost Planet site which is mirroring the download of YP is happy to say...
CONGRATULATIONS to Weird Al for getting over 400,000 downloads so far! :yay: :onfire: :ttr:
(and that's just on the lostplanet mirror by itself!)

Actually, I just emailed Bermuda with the latest tally and the grand total is actually now over 401,000. And not a penny has gone to At***** Records. :sly:

I believe I personally think it's funny how the whole thing has worked out. Atlantic Records forced Al to remove YP from SOL, so Al recorded W&N instead... which has gone on to become one of the most viewed youtube videos of all time, the most downloaded song on itunes, and Al's first top 10 song. YP has become one of the most legally downloaded songs of all time. And Atlantic records has had one of the biggest backlashed in recent memory.

I believe it sucks to be Atlantic Records.

Exactly. They forced Al to remove YP off the album, so he put in W&N instead, and both have become two of the most popular songs. Hoho.

It sucks so much to be Atlantic Records. They now live in complete irony.

I knew that Atlantic Records sucked years ago when Collective Soul left them to go independent.

In a recent "Ask Al", it was said that Al had permission to include a parody that he eventually chose not to include. I am not clear on whetehr it was recorded, but it is ironic that for an album where one song parody was forced off the album, Al chose to not include another song that he had gotten permission for. He could have just included that to help fill the album.

It was "I'm in Love with the Skipper", and it wasn't recorded, but it was included in the SOL tour medley as a "concert only song".

But if he included it, he'd have to pay the royalties for it. I guess he felt that the parodies that he did include were the five strongest of the bunch.
