If anything, UHF would have hurt his chances of being cast in Seinfeld; it certainly didn't help.

Why do you say that, Well, Well, Well? I thought Michael Richards was brilliant in UHF.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Yes, I too thought he was good in UHF, and I'm sure most (if not all) people here thought he was as well. But UHF was not a popular movie, nor did it receive any sort of praise from critics or awards. In fact, I seem to remember from Al's 'Behind the Music' that it was a pretty big flop at the box office. Just because everyone here loves it doesn't mean the rest of the world did too.

Don't forget that UHF was up against some extremely stiff competition that summer. Anybody remember offhand how it did in DVD sales?
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

That's very true, but at least one negative review of the movie did single out Michael's performance as a highlight, so "UHF" did increase his visibility a little.

It's true that it didn't do well at the box office, but that doesn't make Michael's appearance any less impressive. Plus, if he was such good friends with the powers at be at Seinfeld, they may have seen it to support him.

I remember him from "Fridays" when he was the drugest who obviously took some samples. He was good in UHF too.

Michael Richards didn't play the druggist character. Mark Blankfield did. Richards characters were "Battle Boy" and "Dick, the hapless ladies man".
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Y'all remember Al's cousins in the Japanese Rap  group Nice Guy Jin? Well, they have a video over at YouTube.

An interview with pictures. In case it's not clear - Novi Go and Afropics are brothers, and also cousins of Al.
