Ironically, the movie won't be shown on Al's actual birthday.

You probably raised an eyebrow at that title... but just keep reading.

I spotted an Al reference while listening to some podcast show called The Overnightscape, in episode #740; basically, the entire episode is an interview with a mysterious guy from Indiana named Stephen Maddox who has consistently claimed to be Andy Kaufman (yes, the 'died in 1984' comic) now living under a false name. At one point, the topic of the interview turns to "Fridays", and 'Stephen' talks a little bit about Michael Richards, and mentions that his favorite Michael Richards movie was "Weird Al Yankovic's movie UHF."

You can listen to it here: http://www.theovernightscape.com/archives/date/2008/09/

Whether or not 'Stephen' is who he says he is, I can't say... but I will say this. He does the interview through a distortion effect that heavily deepens his voice; and I raised the pitch in an audio editor. I've seen a *lot* of Andy's work, and by now I recognize the little nuances and enunciations in his voice; and believe it or not, he actually does speak remarkably like Andy. So who knows...

But this isn't the place for conspiracy theories, it's an Al forum :-)

Well, whomever he is, he has a great taste in assumed names. :Y

Speaking of "Andy Kaufman"'s appreciation for UHF, Al was apparently one of the top contenders for the four attendees to the recent 'top secret' "Andy Kaufman Press Conference" in New Jersey. In the end, some mailman guy was picked instead.

Strange. (Incidentally, like the UHF thing, I also heard this on The Overnightscape.)
