I like it better because its newer. Ive seen the old one at least 5 or 6 times now. This one Im seeing for the first time now. As far as the empty seats, it wasnt a sell out, and there were seats down front held back for some reason. Id write more, but SLN cheerleaders just came on. IN HI DEF!

I can't really compare this DVD to WAY Live because I haven't watched WAY Live in a while, but hey, don't give up on Halifax forever (although, you should definitely travel to see him on this tour if at all possible!) By the way, out of curiosity, are you the person from Halifax who paid $1500 for a Peter and The Wolf CD on eBay? I'm just asking because it's where I grew up and I've always wondered who that devoted fan was.

Nope, not me! That's a lot of money to drop on a Peter and the Wolf CD! I remember borrowing the Peter and the Wolf CD from the library when I was a kid though. I hope the one on eBay was mint condition, at that price.

ahmyeyesdotcom wrote:So, my only copy of Weird Al Yankovic Live was on VHS, so I ordered the DVD from Amazon at the same time as I ordered the Alpocalypse Live DVD. Watching the Alpocalypse show, I found it really jarring how quickly they jumped from song to song (especially when there's a major costume change), and I wish they hadn't taken Frank's, YDLMA and You Make Me out of the main concert. I think the show works a bit better if he does a bit of talking at the top of the show. The solo stuff is funny and breaks up the songs a bit, making things less jarring. Some audience reaction shots would have been good. The first concert DVD showed how excited people were to be there. The audience seems really subdued in the Alpocalypse DVD by comparison.
I really liked the new concert DVD, but I was just wondering if people could give their thoughts on why they think it's better than the first one?
I actually prefer no "transition" between songs to the cheesy looking gold wipes they had on the last live DVD, but I do wish there were more audience reaction now that you mention it. I wonder what the point of Wayne Isham recording the 8pm show was if he said the audience was better but didn't use that much of that recording?

You have to record both so you know you have everything covered

I liked the newer crowd ALOT better- less mullets and eight yearolds in attendance. The new one looks more polished, and Al is just funnier in this one too, I mean compare the performances of Amish Paradise. Al seems to be more in character. Oh, and WBYL is so much more enjoyable to watch than OMM (Even though both songs are equally great).

I agree, the crowd is so much better, and way less cheesy.

I was not speaking of you Fred. I was referring to FredHuggin's comment. I don't have anything against you...
On the aspect of the crowd, yeah, I really wish you could here them more in some spots. I know there's was cheering in those spots, but it doesn't show up on the DVD at all. I'm guessing they edited some cheering out? Why they would do that, I'm not sure of.
