Why is everyone reacting to this as if it were a brand new idea? It even seems that the guy who wrote the petition had never heard of previous petitions at all.

We are reacting this way because this is one of the first SUCCESSFUL attempts, gaining world wide exposure.

Exactly! I mean, with the traction this is getting on Twitter and FB, it almost feels like this could actually happen. Of course, the rational side of me says that the NFL would never allow it in a million years, but it does seem like it maybe, sort of, kinda could at least be within the realm of possibility now. Fingers-crossed!

Also, Spin did an article on it and wrote out a dream setlist, which makes little sense. No "Sports Song"? And why would Weird Al do an "Eat It" duet with a hologram of himself? "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch"??

But even that one didn't get the traction this one is getting. It's still trending all over FB and Twitter, with almost all major news outlets (including sports related ones like Sports Illustrated) chiming in.

I know what you mean: this has been something Al fans have clamored for for years. (Along with a Walk of Fame star!) This particular petition--for whatever reason--just happened to catch on. Don't question it, though....sign it!!

I'm hoping that some major NFL players get wind of this and throw some support its way. Without that, I fear the old men in suits at the NFL and at Fox will think it's too "nerdy" for football fans. That's a foolish way to look at it, however. Most nerds (like me) don't care about football. . .but they could beef up their already-ridiculous ratings big-time if they could bring in the Big Bang demographic! We'd all tune in just to watch Al! And non-Al football fans aren't going to boycott. . .it would be a ratings BONANZA, I tell ya! If we can convince that this would be a good $$ move for them, they should jump at it!

...and I bet the majority of them would actually be cool with Al being there. Only soulless, dour people don't like Weird Al. I mean, I bet Al would have more fans at the game than when Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake performed.

I think you overestimate the ability of the average football fan to form coherent thoughts.
