I think it's because people weren't homophobic way back in the early days of '10. However, now that some people are allowed to be, the topic is open for non-discussion.

Well, according to the NOH8 blog, the photos were posted in February, but the captions on them say 08/07/2010, so maybe they redesigned their photo section and someone found it and thought it was new?

Not to go on and on about his eyes but he looks like he is telling people very strongly through his eyes that they better not hate. He is one of those people who can convey messages through their eyes.
I imagine in his personal life he is probably a very political guy.

About his eyes...I remember during Wanna B Ur Lovr, when he sang to me, they were that color...maybe that's just what the light does to them...

Unlocking this topic. Per WHiZZi:
WHiZZi wrote:It's fairly simple. Most of us are adults right? We all have our opinion and in a democratic country we are free to show our opinions without being punished for it.

In the past, we decided to not allow political discussion because for some reason it will end up in just not accepting opinions which are not equal to your own. The result was that people just left or didn't feel comfortable anymore. Second is that this is not a political forum and just a forum about a very good singer and a very good band and for political discussion there are other forums.

Al now made a political statement and I'm okay with discussing that. If you really want to know, I don't understand why somebody doesn't allow gay people to marriage. A few of my gayfriends are married (yes, in NL we allow it already for a long long time) and I'm fine if people disagree with this, as long as they don't try to kill or harm them or anything. And it's really not hard to accept other opinions. We are all seperate people with separate opinions and we have to accept that.

What I'm trying to say is that we can discuss this, but please please please act like adults and respect eachothers opinion. There is no need to convince people of something else, you can agree or disagree with it and you can tell why but DO NOT ATTACK PEOPLE FOR THEIR OPINION.. That's all I have to say.. about that..

And now everybody stop attacking everybody and just enjoy the fact we are all different but at least with one thing in common, which is being fan of Weird Al :)
If you want to be able to have a political topic, you will need to keep it civil. And so begins the grand experiment.

I spoke to Al last night and brought up the NOH8 photos. I told him it was great to do it, and a lot of people on the forum agreed. He said something to the effect of: Of course! I didn't even think of it as a political thing at all, just... the right thing.
Please do not quote me on that, but that was the essence of his own personal thoughts on the matter. He then brought up his subsequent tweet about Arizona and immigration papers. He was like I don't know if you saw the @replies to that but people were calling me a socialist!

Re: the Arizona thing--I can't believe people follow a COMEDY musician and can't tell when Al is making a joke. It looked to me to be something just to get a cheap laugh, nothing more.

Perhaps this is better discussed in the tweet topic, but I didn't think his immigration tweet was all that political. I just assumed he was doing what he always does - commenting comedically on our culture.

I am gratified to know that he reads the responses. :Y
