That was fun!! I came over to the "woway" table to say hi briefly before the show started. I was a few tables over on the side with my friend Lara (she has an account on here, but rarely posts). We got a good view of the back of Al's head most of the time, unfortunately. At one point, a PA came out and told Al to turn his chair to cheat out more, but he quickly forgot and went back to looking straight at Chris the whole time.
It was pretty entertaining, even though a lot of the "history lesson" of the interview was pretty much the same as always. I liked that they used a screen to play a few video clips here and there. I also liked that they opened the floor to questions. Chris took a question from a person near me, and looked right at me and pointed... as if to say I was next... but then went in the other direction. Oh, well. But he LOOKED at me!!
I've never seen him in person before, so that was pretty cool. I'll have to say, it was a fairly big reason why I went at all, especially with Al's tour coming up- it's not like I really really needed to see Al again. Lol. Chris is freaking awesome. But, I also wanted to go because it was a different type of event than a concert.
I was pleasantly surprised that Al did a meet and greet. Lara had never met him before, so that was cool. I was kinda hoping Chris would be out there, too... but you can't always have everything in life. When we approached Al, he said to me "Wow, this is a long drive for you", but I reminded him that I go to UC Davis, so it's only a little over an hour away. Lara was super excited to meet him. She goes to UC Berkeley, so I just picked her up on the way over (I have to pass through that city to get to SF anyway). Lara and I have been friends since 1st grade, and it was nice to see her again.
With us going to two different schools now, we don't see a lot of each other anymore.
Yay! SF Sketchfest was awesome!!
