I Love The 80s . . .

Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

He did one with the "Baby on Board" sign. I think it was, "I was going to ram into your car, but since you've got a baby there, I guess I won't."
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

Maybe they didn't do a piece on Al because his career spanned all though the eighties (and beyond) and they couldn't pinpoint a year. Although, they could have done a bit on "Eat It" or "Fat" since they did do segments on specific songs. Hmmm. Maybe we'll see that on "Return of I Love the 80s!"

BTW, I wouldn't expect them to show a bit about UHF. If you noticed, they tended to focus on popular movies that were either critically acclaimed or very successful. UHF was neither, unfortunately. There were plenty of other movies from 1989 that I was surprised didn't make the cut. Specifically, "Batman," "Little Shop of Horros," and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." Oh, well!

Al also commented in the original one about the Pepsi/Madonna thing. That's what I remember.

I was going to ram into you, but since you've apparently got a baby on board, I'll try to hold back.

If you're Jonesin' for some Al, vh-1 is showing ILT80's now. There are two more years left.

:D
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Guys, leave the Boy alone. George was dressed as "Leigh Bowery" from the musical "Taboo" back when the VH1's remembering the 80s specials were taped. Sheesh. I know what you guys are wondering right now... who the heck is Leigh Bowery? I used to wonder the same question until I saw "Taboo On Broadway". Leigh was to the fashion world what "Weird Al" is to mainstream pop music. Leigh parodied high fashion with his own unique and outrageous creations. He created hundreds of looks that were all highly creative, daring and different from anything else the fashion world had ever seen. He was mainly known in London and New York's nightclub life and achieved most of his fame and notority during the 80s - early 90s. Again, Weird Al fans shoud appreciate someone like Leigh Bowery, since his fashion creations were a direct parody of the mainstream fashion world. Boy George and Leigh Bowery were similar in that both were outrageous and androgenous performerist artists; only George achieved much more mainstream success than Leigh, only because Leigh was mainly misunderstood my most. He was a genius in the costumes he created. I was so glad I got to see the musical "Taboo", which was named after Leigh's nightclub in London. Had it not been for the musical, I would never have known or appreciated the real Leigh Bowery. Sadly, Leigh passed away in 1994 and achieved most of his fame after his death. There is a website devoted to Leigh that if filled with hundreds of photos ... at www.leighbowery.com.

Leigh never received much material success either. He refused to sell his fashion creations to anyone, and he received several requests from people who wanted to buy his creations. To quote Leigh, "I am my only customer ... my creations are not for sale". He never sold out and created all his costumes for only himself to wear. There aren't that many people like that in this world who really stand by their own believes to turn away from greed the way he did.

Culture Club taught me love and acceptance and Weird Al taught me not to take life so seriously.
