Wow, this concert was AMAZING!
I had a MUCH better time here than at the Del Mar Fair.
I had to sit in the upstairs area, while my mom was a dancing fool downstairs.
My seat was really good. I couldn't see the screen real well, or even Rubèn, but I was practically looking right down on top of Al and Jim, Steve, Bermuda.
There were streamers and Yankobucks, but they didn't come my direction.
Anyway, the view was great, I had fun.
Tonight was a "Why Does This Always Happen To Me" night, and there was no "Wanna B Ur Luvr".
It was so cool during The Sage Begins, out comes about a dozen Stormtroopers, as well as Darth Vader.
During Yoda, one part he said "Everybody!" and then there's the "Yoda, yo-yo-yo-yoda", and then he said "Ok, just her!" and gave the microphone to a girl in the front, and she sang. (I found out later that Bermuda also gave her one of his drumsticks.)
Albuquerque seemed to go on a LOT longer than usual (probably to make up for no Wanna B.)... A TON of different donuts, especially fruit ones. And at the end, right where he is forgetting the point of the song, he STARTS FROM THE BEGINNING. I couldn't believe it. I was laughing so hard! Then after the Mom and Sauerkraut, he said "Oh, now I remember the point of the song!"
So after the concert, I am running around trying to find if there's a Meet and Greet. There isn't, it's passes only. (Again?!?)
I saw Vikki there, Hi Vikki!!
I also saw Dave's cousin, he was really friendly. He gave Vikki a letter that Dave wrote to him, and Vikki gave it to Al.
Anyway, I wasn't able to get a pass, but I got everyone's signature on my ticket, and then I was hanging around Jim, and near the end of the getting people in to meet Al, he motions to me to come along!!! Wow, sure was lucky again!
Of course, I was speechless, and sounded like a buffoon. But Al signed my ticket, as well as my DVD, and a guy named Rob was there and took my picture with Al, and I will probably get that in the e-mail tonight or tomorrow. (I sure hope! That'd be awesome! It was a good picture!)
So yeah, I got lucky again. Happy, speechless me.
After the Al meet, I went out again, and saw Steve. I was still speechless, but spilled my guts about how awesome the band, the music, and the shows are.
Great night... I'm still swimming in my thoughts.... I'll probably remember something else tomorrow, but that's it for now...
Just great. I'm so happy I got to see this concert. So happy.

We got to see some WOWAY people we knew and meet some new ones. We tagged about 7 Yankobucks! Wahoo!

That's right, Dave--the original letter from 1988.

For speechless, there was sure a lot coming out of your mouth!
I'm glad you had such a good time, and it was nice meeting you.
It was a really, really fun night, beginning with dinner at the HOB with Jason, Kat, Brad, Melissa, Aaron & his wife Denise. Aaron is one of our grad students in the Dept. of Philosophy at UCSD, where I work. (actually, he just got his Ph.D.--I'm gonna have to start calling him "Professor" pretty soon.) During dinner I realized I left my tickets in the car, so went to get them. It was my lucky day, because I ran into Steve Jay, and he started telling me about the latest Philosophy book he was reading and how it was written by someone at UCSD, so I brought him back into the restaurant to meet Aaron.
Once we got inside the HOB club, we went to the bar for drinks, and there were Jon, Ruben and Jim. We got to chat with them for a few minutes. Melissa got to do more than just chat with Ruben, but I'll let her tell that story...
The show was really good. I was surprised they did the streamers, Yankobucks and confetti in such a small place, but they did, and Melissa got a photo of the curtain of streamers that landed above the balcony and blocked the view until people pulled them down--it looked really cool.
After the show I got my dream photo taken last night with Al and Tad Dowd, thanks to Jim West and Kat, Dave's cousin Jason's girlfriend.
It was really good to see all the familiar WOWAY faces--Lisa, Christina, Cinnamon, etc.
What a great night!

Our seats were kind of crappy for picture taking. Here are 2 of the 8 or so pictures that I took that actually came out half way decent.
View of the crowd from the balcony
Curtain of Streamers
Our interaction with the band before the show totally made up for the crappy seat factor.

Oh boy.

I know exactly what letter you're talking about.

If you guys wanted to embarrass me in front of Al, couldn't you just have told him I was driving around Hollywood looking for the lit up sign or something less embarrassing like that?

I didn't see the actual letter, just the envelope.
Your cousin seems like a really nice guy. It was nice to meet him.
I am not sure if I saw any other WOWYers. I tried to ask people if they were on here. There was one guy I remember seeing at my 2004 concert, he had a huge folder of Weird Al stuff, but he said he never heard of WOWAY.... ?!?

Anyone here the owner of the amazing Star Wars-type vehicle parked in the structure across the street from the HOB? People were gathering around and taking pictures.
Why am I certain it belongs to an Al fan?

Yeah, it does- he was at the OC Fair, too. He was one of the stormtroopers, so he was parked backstage.
