Was the interviewer trying to joke about it  or was he more like "I'm sorry this happened"?
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

No he wasn't joking about it. He was just talking about their death. Not in a mean way, but just asking questions like the media does. ;)

True, Driew, but he should have taken Al's hint to stop talking about them.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

people in the media can't take hints. they don't know how to recognize them!

Or they just choose to ignore them.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Patti, the way they are taught is to ask daring questions. Create drama. We would've NEVER talked about this guy if he hadn't asked Al about his parents. These reporters are taught to go above the line. In their normal lives they would've stopped while they were ahead, but I guess they're taught to leave emotion at home....... or something like that.

Why else do you think this Iraq War has created so much drama? By the media itself. Um, on second thought, I'm not going there.....

Not a good subject to get into. Anyway if they are taught that way they need to learn differently.

Yes, they buy into a media culture where it's perfectly OK to exploit pain. Compared to a TV "reporter" shoving a microphone in a guy's face and asking him, "How do you feel about the fact that your fiancee was killed just now when this brick clock tower fell on her in the earthquake?" (I actually saw this on local TV last June), in the warped world of journalism asking Al about his parents must have seemed fairly mild by comparison. I mean, they were old, after all. And it happened MONTHS ago. And he's a celebrity. Most celebrities think there's no such thing as bad publicity. (note: I don't believe Al agrees with ANY of those statements... that's just how the journalists, reporters & interviewers apparently think, judging by the results. :stern: )
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.
