Wow. I can't believe I never figured out that this topic could be so interesting. I just read the topic and avoided it like the plague. ^_^ Boy, I had no idea what I was missing. I'll post some poerty later, maybe. I just had to leave my mark here. :)
Are we playin' horseshoes, honey? No, I don't think we are...

Those are some great poems!! :) This once again shows what talented people we have at the forum here.

I just "wrote" this poem...My apologies to the late Joyce Kilmer.

"Weird Al (The King of Parody)"

I think Weird Al shall always be
The reigning king of parody

He says my nostrils are so nice
And lives in Amish Paradise

Al's polkafied the band Green Day
He sang of pet rocks on eBay

He's dumber than a box of hair
And to be stupid he does dare

He'd like a pitchfork through his brain
And sauerkraut drives him insane

I'm sure that Yoda would agree
Weird Al's the king of parody

Poem by Errol M. O'Neill
Parody of "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer

Fun fact: Including the title, there are 81 words, which is a multiple of 27! :)

That's really good, autrefois! Did you see mine? It is also a parody of "Trees".

We have good taste in poets, don't we?

:D
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

well, here's my pathetic stab at an Al poem. I wrote it awhile ago, like 1999, but until now it was too personal to reveal, but i have decided that the time was right to let everyone know how i came to love Al. Please keep in mind that i usually write poetry when i'm depressed, so if this is terrible, feel free to attack me with a rabid wolverine after you read it. :P

I look at the pills in my hand,
life has become too much to stand.
I put in the tape that he has let me borrow,
but still I am drowned with sorrow.

I listen to the words sung by a nice voice,
and now I have no choice.
"Everything you know is wrong,
Black is white, up is down and short is long."

They made me see,
that all I have to do is be me.
I indeed know nothing of life or love,
and I now know that this message is from above.

So now you are my hero,
even though what I know about you is zero.
Your words will never fail,
now I must say, I love you, Al.

yeah, i was like, in the sixth grade when i wrote it, so it's not my best work... i hope it didn't make anyone's eyes bleed.
If you can't be with the one you love, then love the one you're with!
