World of Weird Al Yankovic

Well, Fabio the Romance Novel Cover guy is a minor celebrity (he's on Wikipedia!), I'm pretty sure the other guys are actor or writer friends of Al's, and I know that somebody's wife is an actress too.

Edit: Tim and Eric?

Also I think the unsympathetic coworkers are Patton Oswalt and Thomas Lennon.

I don't mean to sound dorkier than I usually do, but: "How the heck do they do that 3-D stuff!" No matter where you sit in the theater, Al points directly AT YOU. And, the brain SQUIRTS directly at you. I can't wrap my poor little mind around that much amazingness.

I loved the movie, especially along with the pre-show exhibit and the brain teasers made it quite fun. All the other (non Al-Fest people) seemed to enjoy it as well. When they were leaving the theater, those waiting in line noticed how happy everyone looked, so a good time was had by all.

Hehe, some man really freaked out when the Al's Brain sand scuplture brought up first the question mark, then the exclamation point, then the light bulb. I think the entire exhibit was a big hit!

Special cameras that shoot in 3-D is the short answer. The same technology that brought us Pixar's Up and James Cameron's forthcoming breakthrough film, Avatar. And dozens more.

This blogger REALLY liked Al's Brain.

But ... amidst all the down-home, deep-fried foods and racing pigs, there was in fact a shining bastion of subversive humor and free-thinking intellectualism at the OC Fair, and that beacon of light was AL'S BRAIN, a special Weird Al exhibit that featured an all-new 3D movie created by and starring none other than the Weird One himself. As a lifelong fan of all things Al, I was particularly excited for what was sure to be a typically bizarre and zany trip into the mind of Mr. Yankovic. I was not disappointed, as Al's Brain was a smart, imaginative, and oftentimes hilarious exhibit / movie. The 3D film was actually great - it was vintage Al, very funny, and featured a brain-themed song that brought back memories of listening to the likes of "Fat," "Yoda," and "Like a Surgeon." Plus, the movie featured hilarious cameos from the likes of Thomas Lennon, Patton Oswalt, Fabio (!), and even Paul McCartney (!!!). Given the unfortunate fact that kids today don't get regular doses of Al on MTV like we used to back in the day, I can only hope that a new generation of kids sees Al's Brain and become fans for life. Man, is that guy a genius. I can only wonder what the OC crowd made of his offbeat antics.

And for anyone visiting the OC Fair in its final days-look for a survey kiosk! There were A LOT of questions about Al's Brain, I'm sure they are trying to figure out how much interest there really is in the exhibit, so please fill out a survey!!!

Saw Al's Brain 5 times on Sunday. Hooray for VIB pass! It was actually very entertaining. and the 3-D looked really good. I liked the railroad spike through the head bit, and I liked seeing the Paul McCartney clip after seeing the outtakes at AL FEST. The music video at the end was a little loud, but the music was catchy. Since it's entertaining and educational, I can see it being successful at other fairs, or finding a home in a science center. And I hope that means Al gets the opportunity to work on other projects like it in the future.

For the collectors, the merchandise stand next to the exhibit had a few things not on the website, including a Al's Brain logo puzzle, and a keychain shaped like a brain with the Al's Brain logo stamped on it, as well as some other non-Al's Brain brain-related items. They were out of the brain shaped Jello molds while I was there, so if anyone goes when they have them, if you can pick one up for me, I'll gladly pay ya back for it.

I really wanted one of the Jello Molds, they were sold out when I went, and since Als Brain is only at the fair for a few more days, they are probably not gonna order any more

Dave, just curious - when you went to Al's Brain did you buy one of everything at the merch stand for your collection, or did you just get one, planning to buy the rest through weirdal.com over time?
