Honestly I don't understand why Siskel and Ebert hated UHF. It wasn't that bad.

Maybe since that summer was full of all the good blockbusters, they just needed something to complain about. :P Unless, of course, that's what really happened. Either that or they were just picking on it because it was kind of low-budget or something.

There were many great blockbusters that came that same summer. Al says that in the commentary.

Well, what I meant by the " :P " was if they were just complaining about that because all the other ones were so popular, but I don't know. :lookaround:

Never fear, Cat. The Drool Topic is fully intact. It's right here!

Btw, Manda, I've only seen Ebert's review of UHF. I have no idea what Gene Siskel thought of it. But Mr. Ebert was awfully harsh. <_<

I think it was Ebert who hated it. I have no idea what Siskel thought about it. He tended to have better taste in movies, so I hope he liked it.

Oops. Just read Patti's reply. GMTA, huh?

Well, considering Ebert liked "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and the new "Honeymooners" movie and he wrote the jigglefest "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls," should we really care what problems he had with "UHF?"

He liked the new Honeymooners movie? The one our paper said would have Jackie Gleason rolling over in his grave?

Sounds like he's not one for judging comedy, now is he... <_<
