By the way, when DDTS was released early, and I chose not to listen to it, I hid signatures and avatars for a while to avoid spoilers. But I still saw the thread title, knew the song name, and didn't bitch about it.

I think everything Dave said is pretty much exactly what I would suggest. Not exactly sure about the song title in thread discussion; I can really see it both ways.

And Fred, there is nothing wrong with titling a thread after a new song.

Dave's suggestions are best IMO.

Now, I would love a new encore, either a song he hasn't done for a while in concert or a new song. Of course anything is new to me, so...

I can see the new song thing either way too. The question is, at what point do you change the topic "New song" to the actual title. How do you decide when enough is enough, and it's no longer a spoiler? After one pass thorough the country? At the end of the tour? After the UK shows? Wait and see if it shows up on the next album?

Another thing is any new song will likely be the polka or a parody. Polka titles don't reveal anything about the songs inside. "Polkarama!" tells you nothing. Though I guess you could argue "Angry White Boy Polka" was a polka full of songs by angry white boys, but you wouldn't know what songs or artists unless you opened the topic.

For parodies, sometimes it's obvious by the title, and sometimes not. WYL, and everything on SOL was pretty easy to guess what was being parodied, but PH, you really only had a chance of guessing one, maybe two by title only.

Definitely agree with those rules you posted Dave. That's what I had planned on doing anyway. I'm in favor of the topic of New Song(s) from 2010 Tour in the Music Forum with changing the title after the tour is over. Which, I guess would technically be after the UK dates. Depending on what is debuted, my guess is a new polka and parody, would decide how those respective topics could be organized.

I think it's been incredibly rude how some people have tried to decide another member's opinions for them. Look, we're not going to please everybody any way we decide to eventually provide the info. So, just be like me and go to all the shows, so you don't have to worry about it...

I do have to say all of this discussion has made me really really wish I could attend the first show of the tour. I would LOVE to go into it blindly, not knowing a thing about what will be played but I also know I am going to end up finding out before my show in August. Just too far away not to check, plus I found out a certain girl I am going with is probably going to read the setlist herself so I have to keep up...

Quick note - I just spoke to Al on the phone (he was killing time at LAX and tweeted the number of a nearby pay phone) and he told me a few minor details about the tour. Nothing too earth-shattering exactly, but most people speculating in this thread would probably be interested. I posted the thoughts in the Weird Al Says Tweet thread in General Chat.

It's interesting how he said "very old stuff." I look forward to that, because we didn't get much of that at all during the last tour... I also might get out from under my rock (of keeping away from song info until my first show) to find out how the first show goes, sounds like it could lead to a pretty unique performance!
