The noises he made reminded me of the "massage therapy" he received in There's No Going Home. "Ah, yeah! That's it!"
As for emojis, doesn't bother me if anyone uses them. Sometimes, they come in handy to make it clear that you're joking. Text can be difficult to interpret.
