I was at the concert where we saw the ring for the first time..... but I don't remember anyone being upset about it, just surprised.... I was a frequent poster in Gals at the time and knew pretty well all of the frequent posters (can't vouch for everyone on the list at the time, mind you eh?), and everyone seemed happy for him... Proof of this is that most of us either send in presents or donated in their honor to Comic Relief. I don't know who the dirty looks came from, but it was certainly not from anyone I associated with at the time.

Remember, back then Al-Gals were made to be "evil" by certain people that were very active on the newsgroups at the time. There was a lot of rumors and ill-willed comments made about us and 99.99999% of them were nothing but a load of bull****. I don't want those days to come  back on account of something said on the show that IMHO was not directed to any particular group.

Yikes! I did not think anyone would relate Gals to this after all these years  :(

From Patti: I remember someone being banned from the STUPID Club, because their jealousy had delved into hateful comments towards Suzanne, posted right in the group. I do not remember who it was, but we never heard from that person again. I agree with Maria. I think Suzanne used the term "lady Al fans" so as not to point out any particular group. Just a generic term. I was certainly happy for Al when I found out he was engaged, and once I met Suzanne at AlCon III, I found her to be very nice and easy to talk to, so this Al Gal was, and still is, cool with it.

Uh-oh--I skipped a page when I was reading this thread, so never saw these replies. You know what? I forget that when I refer to "Al Gals" that there is an actual group called that. I use the term in a much more generic sense, so I apologize for that and I will try to be careful about it.

Also, I'm really sorry I misunderstood you Maria, because I honestly thought you had told me that some of these women (not necessarily from that group) were a little bent out of shape. My bad! Anyway, ancient history, as you say, and I'm glad that one troublemaker Patti referred to went away.

I did receive mine today in the mail! Very quick shipping! I loved the cover and everything. Tell your dad he did a good job.

I wouldn't mind sending in a couple bucks to help with the shipping costs.

I'm glad everyone likes it, it makes me happy to know that my dad did a good job. I'll be sure to show him all these compliments too. :D

If anyone's interested in paying shipping or anything back, like I said, not necessary, but if your karma is eating you up on the inside, just send it to the return address.

Squeeeeee!

I'm in there three times- twice from Thursday night, and once from Wednesday.

At 16 minutes, in the crowd shot, I'm front row center... looking down at my camera (looking through shots, deleting obviously bad ones, known in the photography world as "chimping"). That must have been during a video. That was shot on Wednesday.

At 40 minutes, they do a pan (house left to house right) of the front row. I'm on the very end. I remember the guy shooting that pan- I saw him coming, so I just looked up smiling as I was clapping.

At 40 minutes and 45 seconds, my WBUL close-up arrives! OMG, that was so awesome!! I love that I now have that on video (national TV video, no less).

:yay:

That's super awesome, Kristine! :)

Cindybob said she saw me in there somewhere, but from Rachel's YouTube video I couldn't tell one way or the other.

I suppose I'll have to get a real copy eventually! ;)

That's really cool, Kristine! I'm getting a dvd from Meli. too, and I think I'll be able to see everything much better on a bigger screen, and not on my crappy, dark monitor. I'll be sure to look for you. I'll look for you, too, Christina!

I think I saw you, Christina. I'll double check on my DVD copy one of these days. I could sadly be wrong.
