Couch Potato: Al had a great idea with this song but he didn't get it through well enough. The instrumentals are kind of weak compaired to the original and the entire intro from Lose Yourself is missing (I can understand why he cut that out though). Despite the mediocre instrumental track the lyrics still make me want to give this baby a 9 / 10
Hardware Store: Perfectly done and very funny. An instant Weird Al classic. The Hardware Freestyle adds to the brilliance of the song so I must give this one a 10 / 10
Trash Day: Great parody with many perfect rhymes and really great word imagry but a few weak lines brought this one down to a 8 / 10
Party at the Leper Colony: Personally, I don't care for this song. The style and the instruments aren't my favorites although the lyrics are funny. Great lyrics but...I've heard most of them before, Al can do his part and make up a couple, at least. Good song, though so I give this a 6 / 10
Angry White Boy Polka: His best polka yet and most the songs he chose work perfectly with the polka style of the song. An Eminem song makes this one even better so I give this polka a healthy 10 / 10
I'll do the other half of the album later because I have to go now

Couch Potato- 5/10- Eh... Good for a Eminem parody.
Hardware store- 10/10- EXCELLENT original.
Trash Day- 9/10- I got used to it.
Party at the leper colony- 7/10- Corny puns. ALOT of corny puns. But funny nonetheless.
Angry White Boy Polka- 10/10- One of his BEST polkas!
WBUL- 1/10- Innuendos are not healthy. I like the suit he uses for live preformances though.
ACS- 10/10- although if I hear "pizza party at your house" again I will really go insane.
WDTAHTM- 10/10- ANOTHER great original.
OTASH-10/10- This did not deserve to be a medley song.
Bob- 9/10- The video (if you keep an eye on Jay "The Other Guy" Levey and Rabbi Bermuda, it's funnier) was eh, but the palindrones are hilarious.
Ebay- 9/10- Great song, it's so great that there's a TOPIC about it!
GIF- 10/10- EXCELLENT finale to this album. If I ever listen to Zappa and listen to this again... woo...
Extras- 10/10- Home Movies are hysterical, and the voice-only/just piano and Al mixes are great.
Liner Notes- 9/10- The lyrics were VERY smooshed.
In all- 10/10- I cannot hate one of these songs (except WBUL). All-around great.

Wanna B Ur Lovr: Great song but it takes some getting used to. It is also another song comprised completely of other peoples' jokes...er...pick up lines. Not great but the instrumentals are great. Things on both sides of the equal sign so I give it a 7 / 10
A Complicated Song: Very funny song, one of Al's funniest. I don't know if it just tickles my personal sence of humor but it seems to me that it is a hugely underrated song. I must give this one a 9 / 10
Why Does This Always Happen to Me?: Everyone knows that I hate this one so I don't think it's fair that I give it a review. I just think that Al is going a bit too far, that's all I have to say about this one. Great instrumentals, though. The remix on the CD doesn't really sound that different. I'll be nice and give this one a 4 / 10
Ode to a Superhero: Hillarious song but doesn't have the formula, the style to become an Al classic. Dispite this the great lines and funny idea to the song give this one an 8 / 10
Bob: I rated a couple of songs down earlier for being stolen jokes but I respect this one like a funeral procession. Genius. This deserves every point in it's 9 / 10
Ebay: I don't like the Backstreet Boys or their style of music but this is a very good parody but, like Ode to a Superhero, lacks that special ingrediant to become an Al classic. The instrumentals are good and Al's vocals are nice and crisp so this one deserves an 8 / 10
Genius in France: Well, not being a Zappa fan I really didn't get the style of this song and I really didn't think it was that funny. It's kind of just saying the same thing for 9 minutes straight to sometimes annoying instrumentals and sound effects. None of the lines stick out as "WOW!! That's Weird Al's best EVER!!" kind of lines, and I hate to end up an album this way, but I'll give this track a generous 6 / 10
Poodle Hat overall was very well rounded and well thought out and organized. Gets an A++++ for orginization, fo sho. Overall this album gets an 8 / 10

Well, I've never actually reviewed the album, so in honor of it's anniversary, I will review it now.
Couch Potato-The first time I heard this song, I fell over laughing. It's incredibly clever. I'm hooked from the first line. I would have loved to see a video for it, but it wasn't meant to be. 9/10
Hardware Store-I love this song! It's very catchy, and also extremely clever and funny. I love the really fast part in the middle. What a great original! 10/10
Trash Day-I think this is the weakest parody on the album. Granted, I still really like it, but I like the other ones more. It's still very funny, and I think Al did the best he could, but I'm just not sure if it was the best song to parody. 7/10.
Party at the Leper Colony-A very funny original. I love this kind of humor. Of course, the line I love the most is, "There's a guy in the hot tub, I don't know who. What a minute, it looks like Stu!" I think PH was Al's best overall al-bum for originals. 10/10.
Angry White Boy Polka-From the minute I heard, "Cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort.", I knew that this was going to be a great polka. It's really one of Al's best polka medleys. 9/10.
Wanna B Ur Luvr-This song quickly became one of my favorite Al originals of all time. It is so clever, and I love the cheesy pick-up lines! At first, I didn't like the fact that it has sexual innuendo, but I really don't care about it now, because it's just so darn funny! 10/10
A Complicated Song-Brilliant! Extremely witty and funny! I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe when I first heard it. 10/10
Why Does This Always Happen to Me-Another one of my all-time favorite originals. I love it! "Why'd they have to interrupt 'The Simpsons' just for this?" Absolutely brilliant! 10/10
Ode to a Superhero-Also very good! I'm glad that Al had the confidence to go to Billy Joel and ask for permission to do this. I love Spider-Man, so I really like this song! 9/10
Bob-At first, I didn't get this song at all. I thought it was just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo sung in a dead-on Bob Dylan impersonation. Then, I learned that every line is a palindrome. I realized that this song isn't just brilliant, it's pure genius! 10/10
Ebay-Another great song! It's so clever! "Tell me why I need another pet rock. Tell me why I bought that Alf alarm clock." Awesome! 10/10.
Genius in France-It took a while for this song to grow on me, but now it's one of my favorites. It's just so funny! 10/10
Overall, Poodle Hat is one of Al's best albums. It's very clever, and I've never laughed so hard. 114/120

I still listen to it frequently. It is currently my favorite album, but the newest is always my favorite, so it will only be my favorite until the next one comes out.scottidog @ May 19 2004, 04:54 PM wrote: I was going to revive this topic on the 20th...
So after a year, how does PH stack up? I still listen to it a lot. It's my second favorite album after RWS.
