On whether Al would parody it, I wouldn't trust Jon's word on if the sun was shining on a certain day, much less anything concerning music. So, none of that means anything to me. I really hope Al stays away from the song. There are much more popular songs out there that would fit him better.
Now that's funny because I thought you said you were done and didn't want to continue this conversation and that all of us were dead to you, but then there you go again continuing to make homophobic comments AND directly insulting a specific member of the forum.

Can some moderator please tell us all why this is allowed to continue??

The problem with these arguments is that BOTH sides want to have the last word. The issue is that the issue doesn't belong on a Weird Al forum. EVERYBODY needs to refocus the conversation towards Al and whatever the pertinent topic dictates. Mods need to take action towards BOTH sides if either side brings this up in any topic again. EVERYBODY is wrong in the sense that they keep bringing it up. Feelings have been hurt on both sides and will continue to be if everyone doesn't stop.

Speculation towards the next lead single is the only thing that belongs here. Mods should be deleting this (and every other post) that is irrelevant.

Wait, Jon got to talk to Weird Al himself?

You're gone for a year...

Yeah, I went to the "When I Grow Up" book signing a few weeks ago, and at that event I asked Al how the search for new lead single was going. He told me, "Well, I can tell you this: It won't be 'Born This Way.'" He then explained that because the song was a gay rights anthem he felt weird about making light of it. You can choose to not believe that that conversation happened if you want to, but I assure you that it did.

jbracciante, I have to disagree with your assessment there. I don't think it's fair to make a moral equivalency between the two "sides". All I am doing is calling attention to Jeremy's comments to the moderators so they can shut him up. I have not once engaged anyone here on the issue of gay rights. I'm sorry but I'm not going to sit idly by when someone on the forum is making hateful comments about groups of forum members as well as individual members of the forum. I care about the members of this forum and don't like to see a bully come in here and make fun of somebody else because of the way they were born.

I don't know exactly why you have particular vendettas with certain members here, but the random attacks need to stop. If you feel that another member has crossed the line, please contact a mod instead of constantly making instigative remarks. I think I can speak on behalf of all the mods when I say that we want to get both sides of the story so that we can take the most appropriate action. I don't want it to seem as though I'm picking on you, but you haven't afforded us the opportunity to see this from your perspective, so all we have to go on is the posts you make, in which you write things like:
You all are dead to me. And I sincerely hope I don't have to see any of you this summer. You're worthless.
As far as homosexuality, your beliefs on this issue are what they are, but WOWAY is--or at least it's meant to be--a welcoming, inclusive environment. And yes, that means you're allowed to hold whatever opinion you want, but when it blatantly disregards and insults the lifestyles of some of our members, we can't allow that to be posted. It's not a matter of politics or religion, it's a matter of basic respect.

I'm posting this publicly only because your unprovoked attack was posted publicly. Please PM me or one of the other mods to let us know what's going on exactly. This has to be remedied immediately to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for all our members.

Jon, thanks for the info about "Born this Way" and why Al won't parody it. His reasoning makes a lot of sense.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Look at the above quoted post and the post before that. I'm not the one that's continuing it. I'm done. And to say that you haven't been engaging in it Jon is asinine. This whole thing is stupid. It doesn't belong here. But, others insist on continuing it. People need to stop attacking me with their comments. I'm over it, but I'm not going to let biased comments like that stand against me. It's ridiculous.

Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't Al asked to parody other songs that could be considered anthems like Black and White? He asked MJ but got turned down because MJ thought the song had too important of a message to convey. If what you say is true(and no, I don't think you're lying), Al apparently now does think there are songs too sacrosanct to parody.. Am I dreaming the first part up here or misremembering something? Considering he has always said there were no songs too sacrosanct to parody, this represents a policy change.
Is my dude a dweeb?

You remembered correctly. Weird Al wanted to do "Snack All Night" I believe. He never did it because of the aforementioned Michael Jackson request.
