Re: Comedy Central Special, DVD/Blu-Ray Release
I see your point, although I question how many "casual" fans actually attend the live concerts. I would venture to guess that it's a lot fewer than you'd think. I don't think he should dump every classic, just rotate some of them around. To me, Al reducing a song like Eat It to the Medley would be like going to an Iron Maiden concert and not hearing The Trooper or Number of the Beast, it just shouldn't be that way.
If nothing else, Al should do one tour tour that relies heavily on new material one year, and then do another tour with more retro stuff the next. I doubt that will ever happen however, since Al's tour schedule has been more compact and more abbreviated lately, it seems the days of extended year long cross country tour schedules are over.

Re: Comedy Central Special, DVD/Blu-Ray Release
My Amazon page says it still hasn't shipped the DVD yet either. But it's still expected to show up tomorrow, so I guess there's still time.
But I honestly wouldn't mind if it was a little late to be honest. A few days never hurt anyone.
EDIT: Never mind, just got the email saying it shipped.

Re: Comedy Central Special, DVD/Blu-Ray Release
I thought it was a good special. The visual quality was better than Weird Al Yankovic Live (I haven't seen (There's No) Going Home because I didn't have the Disney Channel at the time so I can't judge that). I was sort of hoping this would have some kind of backstage/ between-song footage since this was a Comedy Central special.
Man, it didn't have If That Isn't Love or Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me. And those are two of my favorite songs from Alpacolypse (along with Skipper Dan and Craigslist). It's also a shame that Yoda was left out of the broadcast version (it was also cut from the broadcast version of Weird Al Yankovic Live).

Re: Comedy Central Special, DVD/Blu-Ray Release
I enjoyed the special. It looked and sounded absolutely amazing, and since I haven't actually gotten to see this tour live yet, it was an OK substitute. I do think it felt a bit rushed, but that's because of how much Comedy Central was trying to fit into a 43 minute show. I'm really looking forward to buying the Blu Ray tomorrow, especially to see the medley and the Frank's 2000" TV and You Make Me performances.

Weird User, Al didn't do either of those songs live, so it makes them hard to be on the special. I thought what made broadcast was a good mix of songs. I understand why they cut Yoda. And Fat is a good way to end a show since he does band introductions at te end

Re: Comedy Central Special, DVD/Blu-Ray Release
Hey Spmahn, I've seen Maiden 6 times, all on different tours and at least 3 of them they didn't play The Trooper! I have seen them do it but its definitely no gaurantee...its like that with EVERY band on the planet. Although I have never seen them not do Number of The Beast, just like Al will never NOT do Eat It in the medley, or The Saga Begins. I just wanted to point out that Trooper isn't done at all Maiden shows. Anyways....carry on! Tommorow is the day!!
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

Re: Comedy Central Special, DVD/Blu-Ray Release
I dont think Al is fully a nostalgia act. He has been rather popular with his new stuff whereas other nosalgia acts basically have one hig hit that they have to play forever and thats the only reason people see them. He is a nosalgia act to the people who felt they had to grow out of him as they got older or just stopped following him and they decide they want to see him just to see him perform Fat. But he has not fallen to that stature yet
