Okay, cool. As long as it's the broadcast version then everything's cool. It would be odd if the episodes were later edited at some point.

Al points to "I want to feel you from the inside" as being one of the more problematic lines.

Okay, my first reaction listening to the Radish performance was "wow, there sure are a lot of audio dropouts". I criticized that in my review, and then an hour or two later, I suddenly remembered that Al said something about the network wanting to remove some lines from the song. I "corrected" my review without double-checking, but I had it right the first time -- there's no rhyme or reason to the drop-outs. There's either something wrong with the master or something wrong with my disc, but since I don't see any scratches and I could duplicate the audio/video hiccups on several different players, I'm assuming it's the former.

Number of dropouts I count:

1) Just before the 1:19 mark in the song; out for around 0.6 seconds (instead of "I want to the world to know that you're mine", it's "I want the wor....that you're mine")

2) From around 1:34.6 to 1:35.9 (1.2 seconds) -- instead of "Walking along the ocean at my heels", it's "Wal....ocean at my heels"

3) Just about immediately afterwards, for almost exactly two seconds (from 1:39.6 to 1:41.7), there's a really long dropout. Instead of some guitar strumming and "Loving the way the water feels", you hear "...water feels"

4) The outro and some "yeah yeah"s are lopped off for 0.65 seconds (2:48.489 - 2:49.140)

5) ...and again for 2 seconds from 2:53.4 - 2:55.5.

I've made mp3s of a couple stretches of the song if you want to get an idea what I'm talking about:

http://dvdtalk.com/reviews/images/radish1.mp3
http://dvdtalk.com/reviews/images/radish2.mp3

The mp3s are noisier than what's on the DVD, but it still illustrates the problem anyway. I've updated my review as well.

I was wondering... does anyone know, if you preorder it from weirdal.com, will it GET here the day that it's released or will it SHIP the day that it's released?

I seem to recall when the "Live!" DVD came out that those who ordered it through the merchandise site had it shipped out to them like three days before the official street date, so I guess anything's possible. Of course, it should be noted that in the "Live!" situation, the promise of getting it early was an actually advertised incentive for fans to order from the site. No such claim is being made for TWAS.

Probably the difference between the two cases is that "Live!" was being released through Al's own label, so it might have been an easier thing to be able to guarantee. Since TWAS is being released by Shout! Factory, maybe they just want to play things safe in case their stock doesn't arrive any earlier than expected. Who knows.

Bring on the "crap!"

Either way, it would still probably get up here later than the release day. So, I think I'll wait until a couple days before release, and then ask the peeps at our friendly neighbourhood Wal-Mart if we'll be getting any in. Then, I could still preorder on time if for some reason Wal-Mart doesn't order any. Yay!

This is the most exciting craptasticalness in a while, Al!
