You know, I was actually thinking of making a Rock On Al sign for the Toronto taping. But, as I am a procrastinator, I didn't make it before I left out for Michigan. And then, since the trips between each city were so rushed and long, I never had time to while I was out chasing.
Only sign at Toronto that I saw was a Weird Al Yankovic, 1984-2011, 27 Years of Eat It. I think it had an accordion on it, as well. But I still think that Rock On Al sign woulda been cooler.

Shoot, I didn't even think of making a sign for the taping. They probably would have liked that.

At a show like "Weird Al" it gets in peoples way and then they get upset too. I don't think I'd care too much, but you never know.

OK, well, to be completely honest, I've never held up a sign at a concert before (probably as a combination of being too shy and not wanting to block anyone), so I guess even if it had crossed my mind, it's pretty unlikely I would have actually made one... but, with the Toronto taping, I personally think it could have made the audience shots look interesting visually and make it seem like Al really has a lot of highly devoted fans at his concerts (which he DOES, of course, and WE all know that, but some people, at least in my age group, honestly have no clue that Al could be popular!) So, if they'd encouraged ticket holders to bring signs and similar interesting looking things for the audience shots, I definitely would have shown my support with something, and if someone had blocked me very temporarily with a sign, I think I would have been fine with it, especially knowing that it was for the good of the taping. But the only special thing it mentioned when I booked my ticket was that our view might be partially obstructed due to roaming cameras (which, as it turns out, I barely even noticed), so who knows what they wanted or didn't want. I'm not a producer, so I have no idea what's good for TV and I don't go to a lot of concerts either, so I don't know what's in and what's out, lol. Anyway, the audience shots will probably be very brief, I'm sure they're great how they are, Al and the band performing onstage are what everyone really wants to see anyway (an understatement, lol), and I don't mean to get too far off-topic!!
Back to the thread, it's cool to see how many Al concerts people have been to and which ones they've attended. I've seen 6 shows, so still gotta see 4 more before I can break into the double digits.

F signs. The place is dark, and the band has spotlights on them so they can barely see. When I saw Dweezil Zappa the guy a few tows up had one saying it was his 13th show and he held it up every 2 seconds, and I'm not exaggerating the time. It's frigging rude

Well, the key is to not hold it up at inopportune times. Therefore, you don't end up being rude.
I think it would have been a great idea to have that throwback to Baltimore. Just wish I would have had time to do it. That trip was soo rushed.

Yankomaniac wrote:Thats just insane. Thats ALOT of money on the same band, not that its not awesome in any way but there are sooo many awesome classic bands doing shows around the world, I couldn't just go to Al shows. Theres too many great bands to see out there (Im not talking about anything that has come along in the last fifteen years). Al and the guys are one of the best shows, I love it to death but I couldn't just see them over and over and over and over and over again without going to see all the other legendary acts that still play today. Which is why I've seen my favorite bands all about 4 times, Al I've seen 5 times, and theres whole bunch of classic rock and metal bands Ive seen 3 to 4 times. Seeing the same set live more than 3 times is a bit excessive too, then your just spending more and more money on the exact same thing. Seeing the same band on different tours is great 'cause its a whole new show. Anyways...continue on!
Well, I wouldn't assume that just because someone has seen Al 20, 30, 100 times, they haven't seen a lot of other bands many times as well. I've been to hundreds of concerts, and only a fraction of those have been Al. I'm pretty young, so I think it's safe to say that there are people here that have been to even more than that.
