I was getting a Weezer feel out of it, too. Actually, the more and more I hear Skipper Dan, the more it sounds like something Nuclear Bubble Wrap would do. No fooling. I can hear Jace doing something just like this.algonacchick @ July 17, 2009 05:27 pm wrote: Well, yeah that Robbie Fulks song sounds more like Fountains of Wayne than Skipper Dan, but you can't deny that Al's song has some FOW leanings. Of course, some say it also sounds like Weezer. Perhaps this is another Al original that doesn't have a strong enough tie to any groups musical style to label it a "so-and-so" style parody.
Speaking of which, and forgive me for going off topic here, but can anyone sequence this in MIDI format for me? I'm working on a parody of it and would like a MIDI to convert to .wav as my backing track.

Interesting you bring TNSWC up, rccola18. If you listen to the first four awesome notes in the first line of the chorus ("I'm a TOUR GUIDE on the JUNGle Cruise RIDE") think those are the exact same notes that start TNSWC on the keyboard, no? (Or at least extremely similar.)

That's mostly from the similar harmony chords... and they're pretty simple, so you're bound to find them on many of his songs.rccola18 @ July 18, 2009 06:18 am wrote: the part where Al starts singing "I should be there on broadway..." sounds a lot like The Night Santa Went Crazy.

Something else I noticed: This song is actually very hard for me to sing. I mean, when I do, it's a blast, but then again, I'm a baritone so reaching up there in the tenor is probably not very good for the voice. Also, notice how little room there is to breath in the choruses without sounding really strange. (ie: "Now I'm laughin'/'Cuase I'm payin'/Now my hopes/Always said/whatever those lines are...Jungle Cruise ride" is all like 7 seconds in a high tenor voice on one breath.

Really? This song is very easy for me to sing. I'm considering covering it with my band.
