Weird Al On Vh1's Top 20 Countdown

Fans should have the right to choose who they want in the charts and
not what is dictated to them by music stations etc.! Many of the people on VH1's list I don't even recognise!

W & N should be on the list for as long as fans want it! Yeah, I'm also disappointed with VH1.

Boycotting VH1 makes no sense. This is where Al's getting all his support these days.

This isn't singling out Al. They've taken videos off before when they felt no one was voting for it besides the fan base. The same thing happened to the Chilli Peppers and Nelly Furtado and Paris Hilton (Eeek! I can't believe I'm making that reference) all during Al's run. Heck, remember when Paris was a legitimate threat to Al for #1?

And then, she was gone... Those weren't retired, they were taken out of contention by VH1. Same thing seems to have happened here. There's no contest going on either, so people are voting whatever they want instead of voting what they think will happen. I'm sure that means the last few weeks (Excluding the hiatus) have seen Al's numbers drop.

It also needs to be taken into consideration it's a new year. He had one of (If not the, at that point) longest running video left from 2006. There's nothing left for it to achieve. Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if more videos from fall 2006 drop off in the next couple weeks, whether they're being voted for or not. I remember it happened to a few videos last year too (Man, I even remember MTV's top 20 doing things like that back in the day). And nothing, I mean nothing, takes away from the run it had.

It's not fair, but it's not an Anti-Al conspiracy either. Al will be back soon with a new video (Maybe sooner than we think....heck, who knows if W&N's not being cleared out for DICYO or perhaps even CI? It's not like Al would tell us if things are ready until a week before it happens) and it will be on the countdown (Heck, we'll probably be seeing the world premiere...or at least the most high profile first showing there)

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I think people are reading way too much into this. And as a fan base, I think we deserve better than overlooking great achievments so we can overanalyze a small setback

Oh, yes, very well-worded, Dingo. Except for the part where it makes no sense...unless VH1 is just plain idiotic, which obviously, they are. I would understand your point about "VH1 taking videos out of contention if not voted for anyone but the fanbase". However, you're telling me that that crap the DC put together with that stupid video, was voted by people other than the fanbase...for 20 straight weeks. I think not. Also, I love Nickelback. However, I don't think that their video would have PREMIERED at #1, if it wasn't just for their fanbase. That is just plain ridiculous. I don't even agree with that statement, although that may be what a crappy channel like VH1 does. That takes the "voting" part out of it. Fans should be able to vote for the videos for as long as they want to. If that's limited, there's no use in even trying to vote, because all the countdown is is a sham.

"All His Support"? He did get some much needed promotion from VH1 for the album. But ALL his support? Are we ruling out the other things Al did to promote his album? The interviews on radio stations, T.V. stations, etc. That sure seemed like to support to me. So SOME support sure...they even gave him the chance to put together a "sub-par" Al-TV, which I'm sure was all VH1's fault on limiting him..and not Al's actual fault on putting the show together...but not ALL support.

This little stunt that VH1 did, really set me off...and people taking my quotes, and making me seem stupid...as Well, Well, Well, often does, and I guess Dingo has joined him...sets me off even more. Well, Well, Well here's a quote that you can take and make me seem stupid...."If this board, can't let people express their OWN opinions...and not have someone quote them, and then talk about that person's mother while quoting their quote, and making the person who expressed THEIR opinion seem stupid...then this board is no better than VH1 is. And if this board is like that, then who needs it?" Now, QUOTE THAT.

Y'know, I wasn't even making my post in response to anything you said, Alinite27. I was simply agreeing with spacedingo. Which would be my opinion. I have learned to ignore your posts because your posts are so biased and one-sided that they lack meaningfulness, and teeter on the line of even being opinions.

And if you don't like VH1, maybe you'd like MTV. I hear they're doing wonderful things with that station these days.

Point taken. Al does get support besides VH1. Though the majority (And it's a big majority) of his mainstream nationwide support in America comes from VH1.

Yes, Al did have people voting for the video besides us. I'm not guessing either. I know that because it also happened to be the #9 single in the country and that doesn't happen because the same people are downloading it over and over again. Other people must've liked the song at some point. But like all hit songs, it eventually gets old for casual fans or songs come along that they like better. And for people voting to enter the contest who don't like Al (And that goes for other artists as well who were always in the top 3, not just Al), it becomes an obligation to vote for that video. Call me crazy, but I think there's more fans who want a free truck than genuinly want to make sure Hinder hold onto their 15 minutes.

One more thing and then I'll back out: I'm very, very sorry you feel that by quoting you, I was directing my entire post at you. I quoted you because I felt that was a little extreme and that there's a reason why it doesn't make sense to do that, but I think every one of us can understand those feelings. The rest of my post was directed towards everyone else (Including myself) who are ticked at this situation. I am upset at this, but I also think there's a bigger picture here. I wasn't trying to start an argument, I just wanted to give my opinion on what I feel is happening. The majority of my time at WOWAY has been spent AVOIDING arguments

I'm gonna say this and then all argument will be ended. If you want to continue, we'll take this to PM..although I really don't want to waste my time with you. I'm tired of you--Well, Well, Well--taking others opinions, especially mine, and making them seem like they're not important.

If you're going to post, at least know what you're posting about. You had to have been making your post about my quote of 'boycotting VH1'. Don't even try to sell me on the fact that your post had nothing to do with mind. You blatantly quoted one of my quotes that Dingo had quoted. So, to say that had nothing to do with mine, is just plain stupid.

I'd advise you to look up the definition of opinion. Just because my posts don't agree with everything you agree with doesn't make them meaningless, or maybe that does to you. Since, it seems you're so infatuated with yourself. "So biased and one-sided"..last time I checked that was what an opinion was supposed to be. YOUR One-Sided thoughts...what other side do I have to agree with? Yours?

And if you're going to use sarcasm, at least make it funny. PLEASE.
