World of Weird Al Yankovic

Wow, um, where do I start? I guess with Jon, since he's the first band member I met. I met Jon before I met Al, even. I went to a convention in Southfield, MI called Dementia 2001. It was around the end of March. I think I went on Day 2, Not sure. Anyway, I met a bunch of online friends in person. Most were from the Yahoo group called Al-gals. Some are WOWAYers *waves to Kaffy, Diva and Maria, and I think Susan used to post here* Dave was there, too, but I never got a chance to say hello. Anyway, this convention was kind of about demented music in general, and Jon was the special guest. He talked about other artists, sure, but Al was featured, certainly. Jon gave a great speech, showed some awesome footage, and then there was a meet and greet. My husband and son were there as well, but hubby opted not to stick around, and went elsewhere in the hotel while I was at the convention, which was at a Holiday Inn. Marshall was with me when I met Jon, though. So, anyway, to move things along, after people were done meeting Jon, they were asked to exit the room where the meet and greet was, and chill in the lobby area. It was kind of cool, seeing my online friends meeting Jon. Then it was my turn. I had brought some chocolate Al suckers with me, and gave them to Jon. The one sucker that is in the gallery? Jon took that picture in his since remodelled kitchen! Anyway, I got a hug, and, since Marshall was with me, he got a pic with Jon. I don't have one of me and Jon posing, but I do have one of the fantastic bear hug he gave me. *sigh* So, we're done meeting Jon, and we exit the room. Some other folks were sitting around talking for a while, yet we could still look in to see what was going on. I finally decided to go back in, anyway, and watch some more people. A gal named Sally had brought a drum head for Jon to sign. She got a hug, and a kiss on the cheek. In an uncharacteristically bold move, I said "Hey, I just gave you chocolate. Don't I deserve a kiss?" Jon said "Oh, alright" and kissed my cheek, and gave me another bear hug. It was such a great first meeting, and he's been a good friend ever since. And here comes up another reason why I want to grow up to be a fan just like Patti. *laughs*

That's really awesome! And I'm so glad that Al constantly gives the band their props, because they seriously deserve it.

hehe, thanks, Ghia! I wasn't the least bit nevous around Jon. He's so easy to talk to, and so nice, too. You read how demanding I got about a kiss, and I had just met him! LOL! Al fandom has made me a much bolder person than I was before.

He invited me to do that. He was the first person people would meet as they got to the table at AlCon. He slapped his knee, as if to say "sit down", so I did! I love those photos. We look so cozy.

And Jon's awesomeness is furthermore solidified.
