Weren't Bermuda and Jim West at the KCA's in 2006?
I remember reading they did the music to Jack Black's "Saturday Night's All Right For Slimin'".

Did they perform at this one, too?

In 1994, Al cohosted the "YTV Achievement Awards" (YTV is basically the Canadian Nick) with VJ Tarzan Dan. They treated him with far more respect than Nick ever would.

Don't worry, it's on my upload to-do list...

First, let me mention the Big Al Show. I'll discuss it in greater detail on Live Journal when I (eventually) post it, but basically it was an MTV variety show that Al hosted for four episodes when UHF came out. I only have two of these episodes, and in my pile o' tapes I could only find one...BUT, I do eventually plan to post highlights from it. It's on my To-Do List.

Now, the "camp" thing you refer to is Camp MTV, which was basically a six-hour collection of videos and summer camp skits featuring many of the big MTV personalities of 1989 (including Randee of the Redwoods, Ed Lover and Doctor Dre of "Yo! MTV Raps," etc.) It aired on the weekend UHF opened, and MTV was giving UHF a HUGE promotional boost at the time, so Al, Michael Richards and Victoria Jackson appeared on that special as well.

Unfortunately, I have only two clips of it. One is from an AD for it which aired (oddly enough) during The Big Al Show - here's a transcript of Al's portion, best as I can remember.

EXT. CAMPGROUND - DAY
Al, Michael Richards as Stanley, and about a dozen or so campers stand at the base of a flagpole. Al has a bullhorn in his hand.

AL
SO, you thought you knew the meaning of the word "outdoor fun"?

STANLEY
That's two words.

AL
(through the bullhorn, very loud) WHAT?!

STANLEY
(shaken) "Outdoor fun." That's two words.

AL
Oh. Well, so's "Camp MTV!"

And then at the very end of the ad, there's a huge crowd dancing scene, and in the corner you can see Al jamming on the accordion.

I only have one clip from the special itself - it's nighttime, and everyone's gathered around a huge bonfire for the Camp MTV talent show. As head camp counselor, Al introduces the first talent show act, Miss Victoria Jackson! Victoria takes out a ukulele and performs her immortal song "One Boyfriend."

I have no plans to post either clip in the near future (which is why I explained them in great detail instead). But, never say never.

If you have any bits promoting UHF from MTV (besides the two specials), can you possibly post those?

Yes, the KCA are all about promotion. Sell the upcoming movies to the mindless Miley freaks who are watching because of her.
:D
I'm an Al Freak, Wayyyy above that! XD

If I recall The Big Al Show was horrible. At least the episodes I've seen. The highlight was the Cuppy The Stick segment.

The Big Al Show really wasn't BAD bad...it's just that the expectation was for it to basically be a different kind of AL-TV, and it couldn't be; Al was too busy doing the promotional blitz for the movie to write any of the sketches (oddly enough one of the writers was Spike Feresten, one of the VERY few writers to go on to pen episodes of both Seinfeld AND The Simpsons).

So it was a VERY different kind of show (not better, just different). And it didn't help that Al couldn't pick which videos got played, or which acts got booked - some of the live variety acts were rather un-family-friendly, and some of the music acts just sucked (although one episode did feature XTC doing a brilliant acoustic performance of "King For A Day" which predated the whole "Unplugged" phenomenon by at least a good few months).

Anyway, that's why when I DO post The Big Al Show, it will be judiciously-selected highlight excerpts only.

The only other piece of MTV/UHF promotion I DO have is an ad (again, during The Big Al Show) promoting Al's upcoming appearance on The Big Picture. In the ad, Al calls UHF "the summer's most awaited movie" and says it's "more fun than a barrelful of amoebas!" Unfortunately, I've lost the tape it's on.
