I heard about that. However, last I heard of it Rubens said it was in "pre-pre-pre-pre-production" and that it would be a while before it comes out.uwvark @ May 25 2007, 06:48 AM wrote: This was the closest topic I could find to put the good news of this magnitude that I discovered.
There is going to be a Pee-Wee's Playhouse Movie!! (wiki it)
If they can even catch half of the hilarity it used to have, it will be MotY.

Seth, how can you say that? What kind of Al-Fan are you?

Ummm, you guys need to calm down a bit, geez.
If Seth doesn't like TWAS, that's fine. Not everyone here likes every single thing Al has ever done. Just take Syndicated Inc, for example. There are some members here who really, really dislike that song.
Although, Seth, maybe you could explain why you don't like it, instead of just making such a loaded statement....just a thought

Hey I'm an Al fan. I love his work. Just not the Weird Al Show. ALTV is awesome, UHF was good, The MuchMusic things were great. The Weird Al show just wasn't good in my opinion. The best thing about the DVDs are the commentaries by Al and the guys. I don't even watch the episodes without the commentaries. The show isn't anywhere near as good as Al's other works. In fact I think it ranks at the bottom of everything he's done. I'm not attacking Al or any of the writers or even blaming them. Listen to the commentaries. The network didn't allow them to make the show they wanted to make. That's why it sucks. Even during the commentaries, they all sit around and make fun of how lame and stupid it is.
I think Al's stuff is awesome, I'm a big fan. But I'm not so obsessed and dillusional that I'm going to hypnotise myself into loving something that I honestly don't think is any good. The Weird Al show should have been aimed for an older audience, and it should have aired on cable. That's all.

I reckon I agree on all accounts. Except that I do like TWAS, but in that it's-so-bad-it's-good kind of way.sethmartin @ May 26 2007, 07:56 AM wrote: Hey I'm an Al fan. I love his work. It's definitely obvious that the end result wasn't what Al wanted, even without listening to the commentary, and like you said, you can't blame Al or any of the other writers for that.
I'd love to see what Al could do without the kind of constraints CBS gave him. I bet it would have been an awesome show.

Yup. Another good example is that pile of turd known as the TitDT video. Ugh.
I agree with most of what Seth said. I don't think it's even close to being the worst TV show ever, though. But it is pretty bad. I'll admit it's kinda painful to watch most of the time. But it did have some really great redeeming qualities. Most of the TV segments, the phony commercials, the educational films, the Flintstones bit, and the Fatman cartoons were all excellent, and they really give you a glipse into what the show COULD have been. And even among the rest of the show, when I'm not wincing, there are a few funny and enjoyable moments (albeit most of them are when Al is OFF SCREEN and NOT TALKING AT ALL!) Al's performance in the show really gives merit to the 3,000 "Is Al Annoying?" threads around here. I can't bear to watch him in some parts of the show.
