That comment by treehugginghippie wasn't very nice...
thanks! it's pretty funny. he could be a good singer if he actually took it seriously.

Well, at least some of the Blunt fans dig it. I just hope they're not too disappointed when they find out that's about all of the exposure it's going to get. (It'll be especially interesting if and when specific reasons why are ever revealed.)

By the way, is it just me, or does it seem as if the "You're Pitiful" discussion is kinda all over the place on the forum? Maybe there's a way to condense it into a thread or two?

the funny thing is, Al wasn't particularly trying to be a good singer [not that he isn't], he was just mimicking [sp?] Blunt's vocal stylings, so any insult to Al's voice isn't exactly praise to the original artist, if that makes any sense

Well, they also said "if he took it seriously" which doesn't sound nice since he did take singing seriously...

yes, i was originally hoping it was NOT on the album, since we have it already, id rather have 11 or 12 new songs!

Labels are just more "protective" thses days when it comes to artists who do well, (Thanks to the Napster incident, they're probably still gunshy). I still put this on the label's head over Blunt's until further notice That's a problem....politics are a lot different then they were when Al could go up to a Michael Jackson or a Kurt Cobain and say I want to parody the song.

Let's be real here: Al's not the draw he once was. Where Kurt was honored, you have artists like Avril who never even heard of the guy. James is older, so he probably knows Al. In fact, my theory as to why the download exists is James wanted it to be released in some form if the record company said no. And before anyone says anything, I'm not sticking up for Blunt. I hate the guy :P I don't know, I see a guy whining and taking his shirt off and cliffdiving, it just kinda bugs me :P (Uh....well it wouldn't have if Al made a video, that is)

Let's face it: Al is going to have a hell of a harder time putiing albums out now then back in the day. Not trying to be a jerk, just telling the truth.

Theoretically, you're right. the James Blunt parody is an online exclusive, making it the thirteenth new new song and a taste of what's yet to come. I'm not saddened that it won't be on the new album because we already got a chance to download and listen to it *FOR FREE*.

If you ask me, that was a very generous gift Al gave his fans, it just means a new "fresh-off-the-box", rare online exclusive to add to our rare songs collection (for those of us who already have a copy of the rarities discs collection) because it *IS* indeed a rare song: the first free, online exclusive to be released by Al, which is indeed a first. It's not every day your favorite artist gives you something "just because..." and being able to obtain a new installment before the new album is out.

Folks, this is a reminder of how generous of a person Al is to his admirers. Having this online release tells me: "Hang in there, good things happen to those who wait." Then again, if you look at this in a relegious sence, God has his reasons as to why there's been a delay on the release of (insert album title here).
