Ooooo, OE, that is a good one...I nearly fell over in Reno when Al greeted me by name. I knew he recognized me (even without a camera in my face) but I had no clue he knew my name!

'scuse me, I'll be over here in AIH... :inlove:

Logs enough frequent flyer miles going to concerts to earn free tickets to go to more concerts. Crosses international borders to go to concerts. Crosses the Atlantic to go to concerts [hello whizzi!]. Crosses the International Date Line to go to concerts [hello Carole!]

(I still am amzed when I remember Squirrelygirl's story about going through the Poodle Hat release party autograph line and Al looking up at her and saying, "Linda! What are you doing here?" He not only remembered her name, he remembered that she's not from Los Angeles!

Whattaguy.
Well, he hasn't called me by name, but he did say he remembered me from AlCon III when I met him backstage on March 26, 2004. Also, he knew how to spell my name without anyone telling him. I wasn't there to see him sign my PH cd (that was really Karen's) *accordionbob from STUPID*, but she talked about me with him after a show, and had him sign the cd for me. It says "Hi Patti!" on it.

Also, he tells you you're too good to him, because you give him treats like Al suckers and cookies as often as possible.

:D
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

X*

I beleive the fan who is considerd "Hard Core" should just be a fan into adult-hood and not just be a childhood phase. I am think I am "Hard Core is because I check his website everyday since 1997 just to see if it was updated. I also think every Al fan is different. Because Al is a "Comedy Artist," and everyone likes a good laugh, his fans are by far the most wide-range group of people ever in history.
You have the neards who like him because they think he is a total pioneer, and gives hope that somday they will get theirs because they will dominate a huge corperation. (Al dominates in the Comedy catagory) The "Goths" and "Metal Heads" alike, love Al because he makes fun at all the annoying pop bands out there so they can have a differant anthem for the song. The "Alternative" indvidual (people who like Dave Mathews) like Al because in some ways is original songs are kind of "Comedy Altenative," and because his band is very alternative. The indivdual who are into Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B and Gansta' Rap, listen to Al because He reconizes that Rap is a form of music that will never fade, because the form of music is being parodied by Al. Also listing an extreemly white boy parody one of their own is hillarious and empowering to the form. Because you and everyone else knows that Al tries as hard as he can.
The country fans listen to Al, because it takes them away from all of their struggles, and Al has parodied a few country artist. Finally the pre-teen and child, they listen to "Weird Al" because he is funny and weares a funny colorfull shirt. They don't completely undersatnd Al's lyrics and jokes, but they think the content is funny like, songs about food, T.V, and popular movies, makes them laugh. I listen to Al, because there are a lot of hidden indendos and a suprising amout of adult humor, candy coated and mistaken as "Kiddie-Songs." I am sorry but..."Air-Line Amy this is my new mission, got to get you in an up-right locked posision..." Is well a interesting hidden message.
On an ending note, the ultimate "Weird Al" fan is one who is never ashamed because they listen to him ( I am one of the Metal Fans) and tells anyone they can that they enjoy his music. That they never stop listing to him, (even when his/her friends stop listeing to him) And they look forward to his next album, and tour. Also the ultimate Al Fan wishes him well in his career and his personal life, and never disrespect the two. There is also another type of fans you did not discuss the "Lifetime Al Commited Fan" they are ultimate devotees, because this eclusive group of fans have a tattoo of Al, his signature, or referance. They have made the ultimate divotion of Al where it is skin deep. But hey if you listen to him and are a member of this forum, it should be good enough for anyone, including Al himself.
