Just saw the 1980s edition.
First sighting is about 9 minutes in after the Pepsi challenge and before the commercial break. He does a segment called "Movies that should've been made in 3-d but weren't". Very nice that they used graphics from his 'In 3-D' album to highlight this segment.
Second sighting is about 19 minutes in after the Fruit Roll Ups, where everyone is talking about the song "Cars" by Gary Newman. Al doesn't say anything, but he makes an appearance.
Third sighting is about 48 minutes in after Sugar Ray Leonard. He gives a brief appearance during the segment for "The Elephant Man". Only has one line, and it's not much.

I missed the comment during the Elephant Man segment. I kinda wanted to hold off on describing too much until maybe others saw this episode tomorrow night, but thanks for the synopsis, and the correct title of Al's segmant, Marty.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

I've got a GIANT list of video clips I've been meaning to put on my site. Either I don't have the time or ambition to do it, or when I do, some technical problem sucks me into spending four hours on a four minute clip and I get frustrated. I have over 50 video tapes (maybe it's 100, I haven't counted in a while...it's a lot) worth of Al clips...just waiting to go online.
If anyone has experience with simply and easily putting video clips on the web that look good and aren't huge, please email me privately and help me out. Please don't derail this thread into a discussion about that.
In any case, the VH1 "I Love the xx" series is low on the priority list. The other clips are MUCH more interesting.

I'm watching 1980 right now, and it's pretty good! I love Al's description of Xanadu in 3D!
And "Cars" on accordion!
Was that picture of the lady with the 3D glasses from the album In 3D, or did it come from somewhere else originally? Also, he sounds especially nasally (no offense, ir reminds me of TWAS
), and the facial expressions just seem like the pre-LASIK Al. It's kind of nice and nostallgic.

Yes, the drawing of the lady and the "In 3-D" part of Al's segments are from the album art.twinkieweinersandwiches24_7 @ Oct 25 2005, 10:23 PM wrote: Was that picture of the lady with the 3D glasses from the album In 3D, or did it come from somewhere else originally?
As for the rest of the series so far, I am really, really getting sick of these things. Al is more or less wasted in the actual commentary parts, which tells me that he must have actually been saying well thought-out things or jokes that went over the producers' heads. Meanwhile, and I can't say this enough, Michael Ian Black and Mo Rocca are NOT funny (they're like those kids you used to know in high school who had a reputation for being really clever and smart but just acted like smarmy creeps whenever you interacted with them), and for once Hal Sparks is starting to get on my nerves.
Sheesh, are there any other shows VH1 could steal from the BBC and completely run into the ground?
