Well, after listening to Al more(this site and anticipation on his new album has revived my interests[even in the wake of my Raymond Scott phase]) I can't really say that there is a "worst" or a "best" album. I mean(in regards to my original post), "Weird Al Yankovic" has some EXCELLENT songs you CAN'T live(atleast listening to Al): "Ricky", "I Love Rocky Road", "My Bologna", and "Stop Draggin' My Car Around". Likewise, those albums on my "lower list" have about the same amount of great "essential Al" songs.

So, in turn, I can't say there's a "worst" Album.

And about Polka Party!, that has to be one of his BEST. I mean, I know 10 tracks isn't ALOT, but you're getting one of his best polkas, a great food song, 2 songs about "ohmywordit'stheendoftheworld!" and to top it all off, Dog Eat Dog, and a parody of "Who Johnny?". That's a great album!(but then again...all of his are)

Am I just rambling? I think I am...wanna listen to my "Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights" while I'm doing something -_-

i love the first album. i think that ricky, happy birthday, ill be mellow when im dead, another one rides the bus (claro), and even mr. frump in the iron lung are really clever and funny.

as for worsts...either polka party or even worse. actually it is definitely even worse. fat is awesome, but it goes into SERIOUS decline after that. you make me and i think im a clone now are the only songs evn worth listening to after that.

Oh, NO!!! Not Polka Party! :( That's the only Al album I have, after TV Album... This album is full of great and clever and funny and zany songs!!!

For me, even, EVEN if there is such thing as bad album of Weird Al Yankovic, it may be some cheesy compilation (like Food Album), but not original. All of them are awesome, especially BHD and RWS.

SEVA.

BTW, here's a sort of punster - EVEN WORSE is a BAD album. :P

I won't say "Worst", since that implies "Bad", but I think two albums tie for the ones I like least: EVEN WORSE and BAD HAIR DAY. I never thought the parodies on EW were that strong, and two of them ("Clone Now" & "Alimony") were basically parodies of songs originally sung by the same guy (Tommy James, even though they had recently been covered by Tiffany and Billy Idol at the time). I dunno...the "Fat" video was the best thing to come out of that album, I think. As for BHD, the opposite happens: the orignals aren't all that great. With the exception of "Santa Went Crazy", I think the originals are relatively weak (that is, Al has done much better). But don't get me wrong...I cherish both albums all the same!

Oh, and for the record, I think POLKA PARTY is probably one of my Top 3 Favorite Albums, along with RUNNING WITH SCISSORS and the UHF SOUNDTRACK (AND OTHER STUFF).

I love Polka Party too. Have I mentioned that? :satisfied:

And the worst thing about The Food Album is the nauseating cover art.

I love Polka Party. Especially for it's originals. And naturally Dog Eat Dog is on it. Aww, big, white, floppy suit.

And for the song Addicted to Spuds. This song describes me.

It would take a MAJOR fan to shell out money for the FOOD and TV ALBUMS (not to mention the GREATEST HITS albums) just to have them. I mean, if you're a fan you have all those songs on the original albums, right? Who needs the compilations? Still, I know Al fans who think they need to own EVERY LITTLE THING associated with Al. That's cool, but personally I can do without the comp albums.

That might be an interesting question to pose to the group: who in this forum owns ALL of Al's albums, including the anthologies?

I have 'em. Even Permanent Record, which I don't include in the CC category. It's worth the price of admission just for the booklet.

I justified it to myself that Al would at least get his writing royalties...

I only don't have Peter and The Wolf, The Videos (yet) and Babalu Music. Everything else that was available, I own. I even bought the Pokémon Movie soundtrack so I could get Polkamon. And I bought a Frankie Yankovic compilation to get Who Stole The Kishka. And Al doesn't even play the accordion in that one! Apparently he showed up to sing "Who stole the kishka?" about 9 times. :sarcasm:

I also bought WAY Live, UHF (2 copies) and the Naked Gun Trilogy. And The Onion book The Tenacity Of The Cockroach. When the Celebrities and their Pets book comes out, I will get it too.

And I bought it all in a 5 month period of time... yeah, I got it bad.

You'll probably want to read this series of posts. (and post followups there too to keep this topic from going off topic.)
