I don't think Al has his own driver under normal circumstances, but when he's touring, it only makes sense to have the venue, as contractually obligated, drive him around in one of their vehicles with a local driver who ACTUALLY KNOWS HIS WAY AROUND TOWN. Same with Sea World in this case, and when I saw him arrive for the DVD signing in Santa Ana, I think it might have been Jay Levey driving, or somebody who works for Jay. After all, stardom's gotta have SOME perks. OTOH, wasn't there a sighting reported on this board of Al carrying his own luggage while checking into an Australian hotel?
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Well, as El, pointed out, there were some positives in there, but the whole vibe of the actual interview itself bothered me. I don't like reading about such tense situations *makes me feel almost as tense*, and people treating Al like that. But, he persevered, and proved he was a class act.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

I didn't dislike the interview as much as the tweak.com one. Or the one where they made fun of Nick and Mary's passing. I just think, as OE said, it was a wasted opportunity. And just plain bad journalism. Bad interviewing, and bad writing. Making yourself the center of a celebrity interview is just plain dumb. Who wants to read about Mr. No Name and how funny he thinks he is?

The thing is, this could have been a really good, insightful interview. All the ingredients were there. The guy is obviously a fan, Al had given him a good chunk of time, they were in a situation where Al could have really relaxed (talking about Zappa) and if the interviewer could have gotten their own ego out of the way, it could have been a really special interview.

Yeah, maybe that's what really bugged me. We're such fans, that seeing another fan totally mess up a good opportunity makes us a little upset. Plus, we've never had so much time as these guys did to talk to Al. It was really such a waste.
