Great idea. These are my choices.

Local Business or Place
Company, Organization, or Institution
Brand or Product
Artist, Band or Public Figure
Entertainment
Cause or Community business

I'm thinking "Artist, Band or Public Figure". "Cause or Community business" or "Local Business or Place" would also work, or well any of them actually, but do you think one would fit better over the others? Is there any advantage to choosing one over the other?

edit: Thinking about it more, since we have IRS tax payer number, we are an organization, so I guess we best fall under that category. Will probably go that way, unless someone can make a good argument not too.

I would've said Cause/Community business, but then I saw that about the IRS number, and that sounds like a good reason to go with Organisation.

What will you do with the person page now? I suggest you delete it before it gets too much attention.

The problem with going with Cause/Community was, that best I can tell, cause appears to be reserved for non-profits, and community is for unofficial fan pages. On top of that, if community pages become too popular, Facebook takes them over, and basically I would lose control over it.

Organization, with a subcategory of cause, seemed to be the best fit so I went with that. Though the more I researched it, it seemed like the less important the category actually became. Regardless of the category, people will be able to find us through searches or word of mouth (or word of fingers I suppose).

As far as the person page, that was converted to a fan page, so everyone who became our friend has now been automatically switched to "like" the page.

A busy week for Weird Al Star Fund --

1. We've nominated Al once again for 2012! The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is expected to make their decision in June. So cross your fingers, uvula, and pancreas that this is Al's year.

2. Speaking of, if you haven't heard by now, at the end of last year, the Hollywood Walk of Fame unexpectedly raised their price to $30,000. That leaves us just over $5,000 short again. Please visit our donation page at http://www.weirdalstar.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if you can help.

3. We finally got ourselves a Facebook page. So please come over to http://www.facebook.com/weirdalstar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and give us a like, and share with your friends.

4. There's a great brand new Weird Al tribute album coming out any day now. The album contains over an hour of amazing Weird Al tribute songs as performed by people like MC Frontalot, Shael Riley, Nuclear Bubble Wrap, mc chris, Steve Goodie, Al's Band, MC Lars and many, many others. You can preorder and get more details over at http://www.weirdaltribute.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. A portion of their sales are being donated to the Weird Al Star Fund.

5. And speaking of tributes, there another Weird Al Star Fund benefit show planned for July 13 at 8 PM at diPiazza in Long Beach, CA. Raymond & Scum, Tony Goldmark, Throwing Toasters, Dino-Mike, and TV's Kyle will be performing. More details can be found at http://www.weirdalstar.com/tributeshow2011.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. A portion of their ticket sales are being donated to the Weird Al Star Fund as well.

Why do they keep doing this? I thought the economy was getting better...

I must have been thinking of Long Branch, NJ, which, in my defense, is a beach town. Now off to quietly correct the thousands of other places I posted this... :F

You regularly post on thousands of other places? You must have a lot of free time on your hands.

Is there a flyer for this? Because I can make copies and take 'em around town.
