I would argue that Skipper Dan sounds more like FOW than CBNC sounds like Cake. The vocals are so off on CBNC - sounds nothing like any Cake song I've ever heard. Cake is basically spoken word set to music.

I dont know about that, Jon. I think CBNC sound enough like Cake to warrant calling it a Cake style parody. Sheep Go to Heaven Goats Go to Hell being the song it most sounds like. Even has the same "Oh yeah, Oh, no" thing going on. That song is also actually sung more than spoken.

Anyway, Skipper Dan does sound like FOW to me, perhaps not as much as this other song Rob posted, but, I dunno.

I think Skipper Dan sounds more like "Good Old Days" than it does like any other act or band tbh.

If the "style parody" is not recognisable can it really be one.. Why cant it just be an original with aspects of several other bands in the mix somewhere?

Patti, not saying CBNC is not a style parody, just that Skipper Dan is one.

Actually if I was going to compare Skipper Dan to any Al song it'd be CBNC not Good Old Days.

Yeah, I kinda said that above, Lou. Just kinda said it had FOW leanings without pinning as a FOW style parody. btw, Good Old Days is a James Taylor style parody, fwiw.

I know that is known, but I also hear a bit of Jackson Browne in there as well.

I really dont get why it matters even? It isn't any ONE thing is it.. that my point
Craigslist is obviously the Doors.. down to the leather pants and orig Keys-man. Skipper Dan isn't like that.. Its just generic

Yes, well, this wouldn't be the first Al original to have more than one artist's work involved in the style parody, buuuuut, like I said above, it could be an Al original with leanings towards other artists, but not one pin-pointed, definitive sound that says its whoever's style.

I found skipper dan hilarious because it might relate to my brother.

he's started college and is making student films and such. XD
