I think if he parodies the original music video, he should put Suzanne in it.
Well, he does like to put family in videos. They work cheap.
OTOH, being in a popular video might impact her ability to mingle with the video-watching public when it's time to top up the family ramen supply. Nothing but genuine feef-flavored ramen, of course.

hmmm

.... well if Weird Al's new single is at 70th and TI's are at 5th and 55th, then why don't we tell ALL our friends to go on iTunes and BUY Al's new song!!! we want it to be at least somewhere near the top don't we?!?

Wouldn't it be incredibly
awesome if W(A)YL not only reaches #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (I'd crap my pants), but immediately succeeds T.I.'s original at that position?! (Give T.I. another week or two at pole position, Al gathers enough downloads in the meantime to ascend him to the very top)
It would be Billboard chart history: "The first time the parody of a #1 song reached #1", and, at a stretch, "the parody of a #1 song immediately follows the original at #1".
Yeah, I'm a chart fanatic. I'm such a nerd. (But aren't we all?)

Here's some good news--- in a few hours, the song has moved up from 70 in the iTunes top 100, to 55!
Maybe by tomorrow, we'll see his name on the main page top song list!

I don't have any clever insight as so many of you have had. I largely agree with the problems others have pointed out.
I've never heard the original (I must live in a cave?) but I'm not a big fan of what appears to be source material. Lyric content is great, probably one of the most topical, basically satirical songs he has done recently. But as many have said, some of it sounds forced, and the the music just gets on my nerves after one listen. I find myself not listening intently. I may listen to this off and on 'til the next release/next album, but definitely will be on my skip list after that...
Sorry Al

I'd honestly never heard the original song before it was announced, and I'm not going to listen to the original (not my cup o' cola), but I think this song will grow on me.
