Just so everyone knows...

Remember Steve Goodie's song "Dumbledore" which is a parody of "Hardware Store"?

It'll be on Dr. Demento's Basement Tapes #14 so anyone who didn't hear it will be able to hear it on there.

How are Dr. D's Basement Tapes available? and I'd assume that "Dumbledore" is about Harry Potter, right?

No, "Dumbledore" is about Pee Wee Herman.

Just kidding, it's about Harry Potter. The CDs are a bonus for joining the Dr. Demento fan club. More details at http://www.drdemento.com

Speaking of the "Basement Tapes," does anyone know if there's been any word yet on which Al song is on this year's collection?

Wait...when's it gonna be available? Like, when are they shipping? Also, since I just joined the Demento Society in August, I don't know what I'ma bout to ask, so that's why I'm asking it. :P Anyway...Do I get it when they ship the first of them or when I renew my membership?

I just got back from going out to see a local musician I've seen several times before. She was performing at the grand opening of a new pub in the French Quarter. Her usual act consitst mostly of Celtic style music, but she also does original material and even some of her own song parodies - she is both a fantastic musician and has a great sense of humor, so I always love hearing her. She usually sings and plays the bouzoukis (an Irish adaptation of a Greek instrument, sort of a cross between a mandolin and a banjo) Tonight during her set, she says something to the effect of "I didn't write this next song, but I wish I had, although if I had I'd have curly hair and play an accordion..." I thought "Naaaahhh.. she's not..." Sure enough, she launches into "One More Minute"!!! Naturally I start singing along at the top of my voice! When she's finished, I told her "Beth, you haven't lived until you see Weird Al live and have him sit in your lap while singing the "Gas station of love" line!. She said "Oh, that is COOL!!!" (I didn't even get into the "souvenirs" - didn't want to give away ALL the surprises just in case she DOES go see him one day). Anyhow, when her set was over we gabbed for a bit - I think I have a new friend and someone to drag to the next show with me!

That's awesome, Katia! I love OMM, and it's great meeting Al fans in the most random places!

Sounds like you signed up for the 2005 membership package. You should have already received "Basement Tapes 13" by now, even by Dr. Demento's shipping standards. If not, I'd write Dr. Demento and ask what the holdup is. If you want the new CD, you'll have to sign up for the 2006 membership package. I don't know when they ship, but he's taking orders now.
