I suspect he may have had no choice, if the record company is the actual rights holder. The media companies have gotten very aggressive with the takedown notices, and do you think they care that one of the uploaders just happens to be the guy who wrote & starred in the videos? No, of course they don't care. I suppose we should feel lucky that they're still available somewhere. It doesn't look good for the future of fan-made videos, though, does it? The media companies may be sinking, but darnit, they're going to take as much other stuff down with them as they can.

Also I think YouTube wants to protect itself from those media companies.
